Today is a sad day. The sweetest, bestest and greatest little lady died today. She told me stories when I was small. She told me stories when I grew old.
She tells me stories still, but it is harder to hear her now.
She has always been there, why isn't she now?
All my values I learned in part from her books. All of my family has read her books.
There is not a kid, adult nor old in Sweden that has not heard of her. There are children in Japan that read her books. There are probably children in Afghanistan that has read her books. She has been translated into over 50 different languages over the world. She has sold over 125 million copies of her books.
Her stories are something special.
In case you are wondering who I am speaking of, go to your nearest library and ask for Pippi Longstocking, Ronja: The Robber's Daughter or Brothers Lionheart. Then sit down with your children, siblings, parents or grandparents. Read.
