Attractive

Julie always wanted to be an attractive girl. She thought that a pleasing appearance would make people love her and help her be successful in life. So Julie spent most of her time picking out the right clothes, the right makeup, and the right hair styles. She would brush her hair before the mailman came, she would reapply her lipstick after talking on the phone, she would take long lunches to run home and iron the outfit she was already wearing.

Julie liked being pretty, but no one liked Julie. She was always spending so much time making herself beautiful that no one got to know her. No one hated Julie, but no one liked Julie. Julie was just a strange woman who was always putting on makeup and getting in trouble for getting back from lunch late.

One day Julie bought herself some flowers to make herself feel better about the fact that no one ever talked to her despite the fact that she was so beautiful. Julie did not know it, but the particular flowers that she bought she was allergic too. She was crossing the street when she let out a violent sneeze. The sneeze surprised her, so badly that she took an awkward step forward and started to fall. As she fell she stuck her arms out to try and catch herself. In front of her was a young boy, and instead of catching herself and stopping her fall, she wound up shoving the young boy very hard.

The boy went forward (he had been shoved, you see). Julie fell down and was run over by a yellow cab. When the police came, the boy and the cab driver and a smelly old woman with a shopping cart told the police how Julie (they didn't call her Julie though cause they didn't know her name) had shoved the boy out of the way of the cab, saving his life, and losing hers.

A photographer was on the second floor of a building near the street that Julie had tried to cross. He took a picture of Julie laying face down on the ground, flowers scattered around her, and a pool of blood near her stomach. He took the picture and forgot about until a month later when he developed the roll of film. He held up the picture of the dead hero and said "Beautiful!"

...cause Janie doesn't know who she is
