Silly Rise, she chided herself. You know the answer is 'no'.
That didn't mean she couldn't try.
So she was fully justified, totally understandable that she'd run into some poor bystander hard enough to knock them over.
"Oh! I'm so sorry- I didn't mean to-" there was a trick to getting back up when you were sprawled on someone, but it was harder when your legs were tangled and you couldn't seem to get a hand on the ground and you were wearing a skirt. The guy she'd run into wasn't helping and-
"Rise?"
She was all ready to say 'no, no you're mistaken. I'm not Risette' because she wasn't. Not today. Today she was just girl-with-funny-sunglasses-getting-coffee. But he hadn't called her Risette.
And she knew that voice.
She looked down.
Oh my god his hair hadn't changed a bit.
"Senpai!" she squealed, and fell on him again, hugging in delight. He grunted... whoops, had his head hit the ground? But then he started to chuckle and put her hands in hers- leverage for her to get up and he kept holding her hand, rising with her.
"Risette!"
"Uh-oh." Senpai looked over her head- the paparazzi must still be coming- and he didn't give her time to look. He held her hand tighter, turned, and Rise laughed gleefully as he started running. He was so smart. She didn't have to explain- she didn't have to ask him to find somewhere to hide, senpai just knew.
"We should catch up!" she chirped, so glad she'd worn running shoes. "Are you doing anything today?"
"Other than saving you from your adoring public?" he called back. "Not really!"
"Those camera-toting madmen aren't my public!"
Maybe an exciting day off wouldn't be so bad after all.
