The shower that day seemed the longest Daisuke had ever taken, regardless of how dirty he was. The handful of boys that had remained when Kou had stumbled in had long since left by the time the blue-haired boy got to his feet and turned his face up to the hot spray of the shower.

"About time you joined the living. What were you doing outside for so long anyways? It started raining ages ago, and if you haven't already noticed, everyone else, including your teammates, have already come and gone."

Kou looked down, looked at Daisuke, and once again let the water hit his face before he turned around to let it pound down his back. "I...didn't notice?"

"Bullshit, man, now tell me the truth."

A sigh, then, "I went up to the roof to watch the rain fall, just to have some time to think. You 'n Souji've helped a lot, but some of this stuff I just gotta work through myself."

"And you decided to make yourself into a topsicle in the process?"

"...I came inside before that happened, didn't I?" Daisuke heard the playful edge that snuck into Kou's accusation, and knew before he looked that Kou's tongue would be sticking out, teasing him.

He reached over to ruffle the short hair and cuffed his friend lightly on the jaw. "Better stick that back inside before I decide to take it. Then you can't talk back, hmm?"

Kou held his pose for a few more seconds before laughing lightly, then punching Daisuke's arm playfully. "Hey, if I'd bitten through my tongue, that'd be all your fault. Just think of it; you'd have to spoon feed me, interpret for me, spend all day with me, making sure your little playful punch didn't cause me too much trouble. Though, I would get to annoy you to death, so that might be a pretty sweet deal!"

"You're such a little brat sometimes, y'know that?" Daisuke pulled Kou into a noogie, grinding his knuckles into Kou's head as the smaller boy writhed and gasp-laughed, trying to work his way out of Daisuke's head-lock. He finally managed it as he lost his footing and slipped, dragging Daisuke down with him.

"Owww, ohh, man, that hurt!" Kou choked out as he continued to writhe, this time with laughter. He reached a hand back to rub the back of his head and sit up as Daisuke mirrored his movements.

"Jeez, now why'd you have to pull me down as well? Some of us enjoy klutz-moment-free lives, thank you." Daisuke rolled his eyes, but his tone was teasing.

"You were the one that had me in a headlock, remember?"

Daisuke stared. The tongue was out again, stuck in the middle of a lopsided grin, Kou's eyes closed as he laughed. Well, he did say he was going to take that tongue if it stayed outside of Kou's mouth. And that was a plenty generous warning.
