"...So."
They were all seated awkwardly at the usual table. They hadn't gone into the TV world for quite a while, and maybe that's why they had all gathered here today, with a nagging guilt and obligation to be training to get stronger in case another disappearance did pop up. But they were reluctant to all agree on going in. It was a Saturday, and they had all made plans that didn't involve gaining levels in the TV.
"You two aren't going, right? Chie, Yukiko?"
The two girls cast embarrassed glances at each other. Yukiko tucked a stray strand of black hair behind her ear. "We would any other time, but..." She could lie, say that they were going to see a movie together, go shopping, things that were more average, but...no. Even if it didn't have much to do the case itself, lying about it just seemed wrong considering how they were all fixated on the truth. "We were going to stay at the inn for tonight."
"Oho!" Yosuke said in a singsong voice. "Having a slumber party with Naoto and Rise?"
Chie and Yukiko looked at eachother again, their mutual blush intensified. "No, it's..." Chie put her hand on her hips and regained her confidence. "It's just going to be Yukiko and me! Got a problem with that?"
The shock written all over Yosuke's face wasn't quite mirrored on the rest of the group. "So like, you ...didn't know?" Rise asked him slowly. All of a sudden Yosuke's torn between feeling embarrassed and curiosity. He always knew Chie and Yukiko were close, but that close? Maybe he wasn't paying as close attention as he should have.
"So wait, all of you knew already?"
There was a slow, unanimous nod.
"That's...cool! I'm cool with that. Totally cool." Yosuke folded his arms and kicked back in the chair. "You gonna be busy too, Rise?" The pigtailed girl smiled brightly and slung an arm around Naoto's shoulder. "You bet! We're going shopping together! I was thinking of helping Naoto pick out some new clothes...y'know, bikinis and cute underwear and stuff."
Naoto's face was burning red, "Do you really have to announce that...?"
Rise draped across the detective's shoulders. "Hey, it's not like they're gonna be the ones seeing you in it--!"
Yosuke had to cover his mouth and look to the side to hide the fact that his jaw actually dropped. Okay, Chie and Yukiko? Totally understandable. Could definitely see it, even if he didn't expect it. But...woah, wasn't Rise always hanging around Souji? And--well, okay. He could understand it. Just because he thought it wasn't likely didn't mean it was impossible. "So how about Kanji and Teddie? Why are they late?"
Somehow he knew the answer before they even responded.
"So--you're all...like that? I mean--not that I care! Ehh, not caring not in the bad way, I mean but--seriously?"
Chie raised an eyebrow. "Are you playing stupid, or are you just stupid?"
"What?"
Yukiko stifled a laugh, a great feat on her part. "You and Souji don't hide your relationship very well..."
"You're always sneaking off to the school roof during lunch hour, giving him rides on your bike...and I know I heard your voice at his house when I called Senpai at night one time--!" Chimed in Rise.
Naoto turned her calculating stare to Yosuke. "The evidence is astronomically not in your favor."
"Wh--come on, you guys! Me and partner?" Though he knew the fact that he even called him partner is suspicious on it's own. Despite his desperate attempts at convincing, the girls began to scatter to do their own separate things for the rest of the evening. Yosuke's face was flushed with pink as he turned to Souji. He hadn't asked him to speak up and back him up, because--well, Souji was an advocate of the truth. He leaned over and kissed Yosuke's forehead, pulling back with a smile that was a little too smug for Yosuke's taste.
"Didn't I tell you that you didn't have anything to worry about--"
"...Shut up, dude."
