Yosuke figured he probably had a stupid smile on his face right now. His tail was twitching slightly as he stared - that is, looked - over at Souji as they sat in the Junes food court. Strong, confident features, soft-looking gray hair topped with probably the cutest ears Yosuke had ever seen.
It was a little hard for him to resist. But they were expecting the others, so Yosuke looked back down at his feet in an attempt to not blurt out something stupid. Thankfully, footsteps provided a good distraction, and Yosuke jerked his head up. "Yo!" The rest of the greeting died as Chie and Yukiko came and took their seats, nodding at Souji's quiet greetings.
"...Could you not stare?" Yukiko finally said to Yosuke, her cheeks a little pink. "It's embarrassing."
He somehow managed not to point. "But yesterday you both had-"
"Yeah, we know, Yosuke," Chie was giving him the look that made him cringe away automatically. The girl kicked hard.
"Huh," he said, trying to school his features into a more normal expression and knowing that he was failing horribly. "Guess I should've seen that one coming."
"Oh man, my manager's going to kill me," a voice complained from behind him, and Yosuke pivoted - only to be met with the sight of an earless, tailess Rise.
"You too?" he blurted out, but Rise caught a glimpse of the people behind him and totally ignored him. She waved gleefully at the two sitting girls. "Thanks for last night, you two! A little bit of trouble is nothing compared to-"
"Wait, hold on," Yosuke interrupted. "You. And them. You guys all-" he couldn't even find the words to say it, but Rise's unrepentant smile and the deepening blush of both Chie and Yukiko confirmed his suspicions. "...That I did not see coming," he said, not proud of how high his voice sounded in his ears.
"Hey, wait," Rise said, tilting her head to one side. "Where's-"
A scraping of chair legs across the deck was the only noise as Naoto sat down wordlessly at the table. Yosuke, a slow feeling of dread creeping over his skin, leaned over to yank the hat off of Naoto's head. ...Her ears were gone too. "What is this?!" he said rather loudly. "I demand to know!"
Naoto stood and grabbed her hat, jamming it back on her head. "It's none of your business!" she shot back.
"But- Just- How- What's going on?" None of the girls would meet his eyes. "Rrrrrgggghh," Yosuke brought a hand up to pinch at the bridge of his nose. Maybe that would ward off the headache he could feel coming on.
"Oh hey, Teddie!" Chie called out, and Yosuke just knew that nothing was going to stop his day from slowly going to hell. He almost didn't want to look.
"I see I'm not the only one who went under a little ~transformation~ last night," Teddie's voice was what made Yosuke collapse back into his chair and gently but repeatedly start banging his head against the table.
"What's wrong with Yosuke-senpai?" Oh good, finally, Yosuke thought. Kanji would help him. Kanji would save him from what had to be a nightmare. Good, steady Kanji-
lacked ears and a tail.
This was too much for Yosuke, who grabbed Kanji's shirt, getting a "whoa, guy, hang on!" for his efforts. But Yosuke just tightened his grip.
"What's. Going. On. What's happening?"
"I-" Kanji started, then turned his head away. "I don't want to talk about it," he finished gruffly.
Yosuke let go and turned back to Souji, his tail lashing. "Dude. You. Me. Tonight." At Souji's surprised expression, Yosuke clapped his hands together in front of him. "Pleeease? I don't want to be left behind!" Yosuke glanced back at the others, then strode forward and grabbed Souji's collar. "Actually, why wait? We'll be right back you guys."
