“What the fuck did you run away for?!” Rider roared. Take-Mikazuchi growled in sync with Rider. Naoto, on the other hand, was just trying to figure out how to breathe again.

“Didn’t you hear that voice?” Naoto asked. “It was a woman who called herself Caster. She warned us that we wouldn’t have the strength to stand up against Berserker.” Reflected in the rearview mirror were huge balls of fire, bursting into the air. Judging from the looks of it, Caster had been correct.

“I don’t give a shit about some disembodied voice and what they’re saying! We could’ve taken them on!”

“Even against Hanamura and Seta?”

“Look, I know that dumb bear Hanamura summoned, okay?” The speedometer continued pushing forward. “He was a character on a children’s show I used to watch. I could’ve taken him out, easy.”

“And what of Archer and Berserker?”

“… I don’t know Archer,” said Rider. “But I ain’t afraid of any magic shit. ‘Sides, I figured we could’ve worked together to beat ‘em all.”

“… You don’t understand.” Naoto smiled grimly. “I told you before that you don’t suit my style of fighting. You’re too…” Reckless. Bold. Transparent, yet opaque, all at the same time. “If I had more information on the other Servants… Ch’… I’m useless without knowing who the Servants are.”

“… You ain’t bad. Just too cautious. T-t-trust me a little more, okay? We got this far already.”

“Thank you for the sentiment,” she said. “But now I’m curious… Rider, you said the bear was from a cartoon you watched, am I correct? This is clearly in violation of the mythic spirit rule of the Holy Grail Wars. Combined with your more… notorious nature, and the relatively modern appearance of Archer, I have reason to believe we are fighting in a highly unusual War.”

“… You ain’t fighting a real Holy Grail War,” said Rider.
