Le Dejeuner Sur L'Herbe, (3/4) anonymous July 13 2009, 18:36:26 UTC
-----------------------------------------------------------

Dojima was moaning in his sleep, tossing and turning. Adachi jerked his head up and wiped the sweat from his eyes. Once again, two thoughts inside his head were piping up with conflicting information. One told him to laugh, maybe even put the pillow over Dojima's face and see what would happen, because seeing Dojima-san suffer was just so much fun.

For once, Adachi decided to listen to the other voice, the one that he feared had been nearly snuffed out after that Yamano woman had fallen into the television set. He listened to it for the first time in months, reaching out and grasping Dojima's hand in his. The feeling was alien, the palm huge and sweaty in his smaller hand, and he nearly recoiled from the naked intimacy of it. But when Dojima's breathing slowed and his body settled back into the hard hospital mattress, Adachi kept his hand there, his own pulse slowing.

Before he knew what he was doing, Adachi reached out with his other hand and brushed it lightly against Dojima's hair, smoothing it back. He was shaking lightly as he did this, because it was a kind gesture that he actually meant, and the idea of that happening made him both relieved and scared shitless. As if to comfort him, Dojima smiled in his sleep.

-----------------------------------------------------------

The next thing Dojima knew, he was out of the house and away from the horrors within it, and standing on the Samegawa river bank. The scene before him was incredibly familiar - not only because it featured people that were weighing heavily on his mind at the moment, but also because it was taken directly out of one of the only paintings he had ever even tried to understand - "Le Dejeuner Sur L'Herbe" by Edouard Manet. Only it wasn't a naked woman sitting on the grass, eating lunch nonchalantly with Namatame (what?) and the white-haired woman from his previous dream, but Adachi. And, true to the painting, he was naked and smiling, unaware (or uncaring) of the unclad state he was in.

Without breaking his pose - because that's what it was, a pose - Adachi said, "Do you see it now?"

And Adachi looked so innocent, so willing, sitting there exposed to the world, that Dojima walked over and kissed him.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Dojima was moaning again, and Adachi continued stroking his hair, ignoring the voices within him. He squeezed his hand again, thinking he was having another nightmare, but when he looked down at Dojima's lower body, he had a feeling this was not the case. His superior had an erection that looked like it could cut glass, poking the hospital sheet up to an impressive angle. Adachi had no idea why, but he desperately wanted to touch it and squeeze it, thinking that maybe everything would be okay if he just did that. But he didn't; he compromised with himself and put a hand on Dojima's stomach, rubbing gently, biting his own lip at the feelings that were surfacing within him, feelings of remorse and pity and desire, feelings he had crushed for so long. He wanted to cry.

-----------------------------------------------------------

They started out on the floodplain, but as dreams are wont to do, their location shifted inexplicably and they were back in Dojima's bedroom, tangled up on his small futon. They were both naked and pressed against each other, and although Dojima had never had sex with another man before, he knew exactly what to do to Adachi. Adachi moaned and bucked at all the right times, driving Dojima into a frenzy he had never known before. And when he was just about to fall over the edge and lose himself, his entire lower body tensed and ready to break like piano wire, Adachi looked right into his face, brown eyes wide open and frightened beneath his especially unruly mop of black hair. He said, pleadingly, "If it could just be like this then everything would have been fine." Before Dojima could say anything to that, his body betrayed him and he climaxed, making his entire lower body spasm. A moment later Adachi climaxed as well, covering Dojima's chest with what felt like a gallon of semen. He looked in Dojima's eyes and said something that made Dojima's stomach roll over.

"Everything's changing, Dojima-san."

-----------------------------------------------------------

Adachi couldn't stand it anymore. He took a chair and edged it against the door of the hospital room, knowing it wouldn't stop anyone from coming in, but it would at least give him some warning. He spat in his hand, reached it under the sheet, and after a second or two of feeling around, found the swell of Dojima's cock. It took him a moment to get a rhythm, but he stroked it the same way he would stroke himself, and that seemed to work. Dojima bucked his hips a few times, but it only took a minute or so before he came with a small moan.

Adachi quickly wiped his hand on the sheet, pulled it out, and picked his book back up. He made sure to put his book directly in his lap, willing his own erection to subside before Dojima woke up.

Dojima did wake up a minute or so later, opening his eyes to a visibly flustered Adachi reading an enormous novel... upside-down. "Adachi?" he said cautiously. "Is everything all right?"

Adachi smiled and said, "Oh, no, Dojima-san, everything's fine. I just... I get really into the books I read, and there's this really good part where Stu Redman - that's the main character, you know, haha - stands up to Harold Lauder and..." He trailed off, knowing Dojima was giving him one of his trademark looks of exasperation. "Uh, Dojima-san, would.... would you like a shave? You look like you could use one." He grinned genuinely. "And... and I'd really like to have a little talk with you, if that's okay."

Things I liked about this story:

-The references to The Stand - makes me wanna grab a copy and look at the page Adachi's reading. I haven't read it in years.

-How Dojima's dream changed.

-The use of the painting. I love how Dojima's dream state put Namatame and Adachi into it.

-The Izanami and Adachi relationship. And in general the Adachi characterization.

-Just the high quality of the writing in general. Great descriptions, great dialogue.

Excellent job, anon. I'm not the OP but I was really hoping this one would get filled.

Ha! Page 452 is actually nothing special. My boyfriend has been borrowing my copy of The Stand to read at work, and since I didn't have the book at the time, I had to make up a page number and hope I remembered what was on it. (I've read it fifteen times over my life - crazy fan much?) Alas, I was hoping it was some Harold Lauder, who I've always thought was an Adachi-like character in some ways, but I guessed wrong and it was about Larry and Nadine. Oh well.

Thank you for the very specific praise. I'm glad the painting reference wasn't a flop - the image just sort of came into my mind as something that walks the line between the erotic and the extremely strange and unnerving. When I read over the story again, it seemed kind of strange and out of place.

I'm really glad you liked it - this pairing isn't one of the more popular ones, but it seems to have a small (but extremely enthusiastic!) fanbase that I love being a part of. ^_^

Wow that was an essay.

Ah, a fellow SKing fan. :) I prefer The Dark Tower series, but yeah, The Stand is one of his best. I remember thinking when I read it, this would make a great video game.

The painting worked well - not sure if it was what you were going for, but I took Adachi's nakedness in it to represent truth. (BTW If you have a specific interest in Le dejeuner sur l'herbe you might be interested in reading L'OEuvre by Emile Zola, for which it was an inspiration; haven't read this in years either but remember enjoying it.)

I try and read all the Adachi stuff on here when I have time - thanks for writing this!

Ah, yes, that's exactly what I was going for! Truth mixed in with brazen and bizarre sexuality.

I'll have to check that book out ^_^

And I also prefer the Dark Tower - in fact, I've been working on a Persona/Dark Tower crossover fic for a while. Don't know if you've read Interlude 19 on here (couple of weeks back) but that was part of it. No Adachi, as most of it is a flashback that takes place in the 90's, but it does deal with the issue of one Chisato Dojima.

No, I missed that one, but I will have to check it out :). I usually just stick to reading Adachi/anyone mixed in with the occasional Dojima/Souji.

Ooh this was hot, and it had lots of great imagery with the dreams. Loved it!

I love the little bits of reality that seep into the dream, and I admit it broke my heart a little when Adachi said that everything would've been all right. S-sob.
