“Hmm?”
“Can I come in?”
“Sure.”
She opened the door and walked into the room, instantly noticing the pile of envelopes on the table in front of him. “Um... Are you busy, big bro?”
“Not really.”
Nanako was a bit worried now. Sometimes he was kind of weird, but her dad said that she had to be nice. Then she remembered what she had come for. “I couldn't sleep... But I could hear singing, and...” It had scared her so much, she couldn't get back to sleep, no matter how hard she tried.
“Oh,” he didn't look mad that she was up past her bedtime. Actually, for some reason, he looked kind of embarrassed.
They looked at each other silently for what seemed like forever. Then he pulled a box out of his backpack, one that had a picture of a robot on it. “Want to help?”
She smiled. “Okay!”
Actually, Nanako had never made a model robot before, so she thought it would be kind of hard. But then it turned out to be fun, and really easy... As long as someone was there to do the hard stuff. Actually, she ended up mostly just putting the stickers on, while her big bro did the sanding and cutting and the other things that needed tools, but she didn't mind. After all, the stickers, he told her, were really important too.
“Colour?” Souji held up a few tiny jars of paint for her inspection. They all looked kind of boring, except...
Nanako giggled. “Pink, of course!”
He smiled. “Right. Glitter or no?”
There was only one right answer. “Glitter!”
When they were done, it didn't really look like what was on the box at all, and it was kind of wobbly (her big bro had let her try sanding one of the feet, but it came out wrong), but it still looked pretty good.
“It looks great, Nanako-chan... Good job,” Souji said, trying (and failing) to get it to stand up.
“Really?”
“Yeah,” he said, with a smile on his face. He didn't usually say that much either, but Nanako knew that he wasn't lying.
Then she yawned. It was really late now...
“...It's bedtime,” he said, but not in a mean way. He finally just let the model stay on its side. “You okay now?”
“Yeah... Goodnight, big bro!” Nanako said. She was pretty sure she could sleep now, since the weird singing had stopped.
“'Night.”
**
The next morning, Nanako got up early to make breakfast, like usual.
What was unsual was the pink, glittery model robot on top of the TV. It was taped to its base with a giant wad of tape, but it still looked really cool. She wondered what her dad would say, when he saw it.
“... Best model ever,” Souji said proudly.
“Yeah!” Nanako said, grinning from ear to ear.
It was the best model they ever made.

This was just what I wanted- and you remembered the motivational singing. *cackles* Oh Souji, why are you so weird? They were both completely adorable~.
