The problem was that he couldn't stop thinking. His body felt tired, but his mind was whirring away at 120 kilometers an hour, calculating and recalculating all the moves he'd made in the elaborate game of chess that he'd been playing ever since he came to Inaba (those kids suspect me does Dojima know then why does he keep looking at me like that oh god please all I want is--). But then again, his exile here hadn't been the true beginning. That was when the insomnia had started, certainly, only growing worse after he discovered his power, pushed Mayumi Yamano into the TV, did the same to Saki Konishi. Ultimately, though, that had not been the catalyst.
She was the catalyst. Hazuki Kobayashi. The name tasted like acid in his mouth, her innocent smile seared the darkness behind his eyelids. It wasn't as though he had set out to do what he did. She was too soft (mentally and physically and maybe even--), too easy to exploit. He wasn't the most experienced member of the police force, but he knew enough to recognize the usual excuses that criminals tended to fall back on; he knew that "she was asking for it" was one of those classic lines, and a part of him hated himself for even thinking it. But the criminals wouldn't say shit like that if they didn't think it was true.
He'd noticed her instantly, the first day he'd officially joined the force. His eyes and her body were a moth and a flame, and he was drawn unavoidably. Her long, dark hair was pulled up in a ponytail, allowing for a better view of her slender neck (kiss it suck it scrape my teeth along--) and delicate ears (breathe into them and feel her squirm under--). She had her back to him at first, and his eyes traced down to admire the way the fabric of her skirt clung to her ass, the smooth white skin of her legs (run my hand up the inside and feel--). He was tangentially aware of someone talking to him, explaining something about the office and his desk and protocol, and he nodded at what he thought might be appropriate intervals as he continued to be enthralled by the perfect creature who was somehow occupying the same space as him. A lump formed in his throat as he watched her, waiting (please turn around please please turn--), and even without seeing her face he had to sit down at his desk to hide the evidence of his arousal.
She wasn't the only woman on the force, but one of a very select few, and the only one working in the same department as Adachi. At first he had assumed that she must be a secretary or receptionist of some kind, but it turned out that she was a full-fledged police officer, only a few months his senior. She took her job very seriously, as women generally had to do in such male-dominated fields, and somehow that only made her more attractive; he would watch her from across the room as she sat at her desk, studying reports, feeling a thrill run through him every time that tiny crease formed between her eyebrows (I wonder when else she makes a face like that maybe I could--), the corners of her mouth just slightly downturned. Every time he was stuck in the office, he found himself counting down the seconds until the end of the day, until he could go back to his apartment and let thoughts of Hazuki Kobayashi overtake his mind, lying on his bed and jerking off until he made himself sore (if only it could be her so soft and warm girls like her are usually animals in--). It didn't do any good, of course; he would just go back to work the next day and the cycle would start anew, the lascivious predator and the unwitting prey.

The police department in the city was large, much larger than Inaba's, but it wasn't so large that one could avoid someone else forever. It had been a dark February day, rain streaming down the windows, and Adachi had gone into the records office to look up a file for a case he was working on. His heart had nearly stopped when he saw her standing there, Hazuki Kobayashi, the unattainable one. She was standing in front of a filing cabinet, bending over just slightly to rifle through a middle drawer, her back to the office door. It didn't appear that she even knew another person was in the room, certainly didn't know that it was the person she'd been avoiding for the past several months. He didn't move at first, didn't know what to do; his head didn't seem to be functioning properly, brain waves an utterly flat line. Then all at once, a rush of blood and adrenaline surged through him, accompanied by a rapid-fire slide show of every sexual fantasy he'd ever had about Hazuki Kobayashi (spin her around strip her down cuff her to the cabinet press her skin against the cold metal fuck her until she--). Truly it was like a gift from the gods.
He had always been much braver in his fantasies than in real life. He had walked halfway across the room when he stopped, swallowed hard, had to open his big stupid mouth. "H- hey, Hazu-chan."
She spun around, startled of course, her eyes wide at first and then narrowing suspiciously. "Adachi-san." Her tone was cold, and it cut through him as though he was a fish being gutted. "I wasn't aware we were so familiar."
Referring to the way he had addressed her, of course. Hazu-chan was what some of the other guys on the force called her, people who actually spent time with her and might even have been considered her friends. People that Adachi hated. "Oh, right. Sorry, Kobayashi-san." He took a step forward, and he was both horrified and angry to see her almost visibly recoil, like she was trying to sink into the filing cabinet (it won't do any good you can't possibly escape not now that I've--). "Hey, you know, we've never really talked or anything, but there's something I need to say."
Those eyes, so cold, like brown daggers. She opened her mouth, closed it, opened it again, all in the blink of an eye. Hesitation, a sign of weakness. "Okay."

She tried to scream, but he smothered her mouth with his, and her voice was lost down his throat. There was nothing even resembling tenderness or love in it, only the built-up lust of the past few months, all bundled together in one kiss. She tried to struggle at first, her leg threatening to come up and knee him, but he was faster; he pressed his body hard against hers and moved one of his hands to clamp down hard on her shoulder, pinning her to the filing cabinet. She recognized that her struggling was useless then (such a smart girl but not smart enough to--), and she stood stock-still, eyes squeezed shut, waiting. When Adachi shoved his tongue into her mouth, she tried to bite down on it, but he only found her attempts at violence to be unbearably enticing.
One of the many weaknesses of humankind was their reliance on oxygen. Adachi eventually ran out of air (too soon far too soon could kiss a girl like her forever even if she--), and as soon as he pulled his mouth just slightly away from hers, she let out an ear-piercing scream, so loud that he staggered backwards slightly, releasing his hand from her shoulder. She ran then, nearly tripping over her high heels in her haste to escape, and he spun around and reached out a hand to try and grab hold of her clothes, her hair, anything just to keep her there with him. "Hazu-chan!" he howled out, his voice no longer sounding like his own.
And back in the here and now, Adachi suddenly became aware that he was pressing himself against Dojima's back, his erection hard against the other man's leg; he was sweating as well, and his head was pounding as though his heart had decided to switch places with his brain. He bit down on the loose fabric of Dojima's t-shirt, trying to suppress the aroused moan that threatened to escape from his lips, but gently, so he wouldn't disturb his partner as he slept. Maybe it would have been easier if he had woken the older man up, just so that he could find some release, any release, but he knew deep down that it wasn't what he wanted. Wasn't what he needed, not now, not this time (can't stand it can't take it I need to--).
It certainly wasn't the first time that Dojima had woken up to find Adachi gone. He figured it was just for the pretense.

This paints such an amazing picture of Adachi's mentality when it comes to these women for whom he develops such an infatuation. Your Adachi is really not an evil person, and that falls very much in line with how I've seen him up to this point: it's not that he doesn't try to reach out to other people and form social bonds, it's just that he... really sucks at it. I especially love seeing the gradual progression of his fantasies as they turn from lusty to angry and violent as his desires are frustrated--like he's been denied something that he was entitled to, which I suspect given Adachi's various ugly attitudes about women he might really believe. |D
I would've been very interested to hear about where Dojima fits in the whole picture for Adachi. I've always been curious to know if or where the way he relates to Dojima shares common ground with the way he relates to these women. Is Dojima very different for him? I think so, personally, but then what's the appeal? Haha, I think too much about these things.
In any case, anon applauds this! ♥

Personally I feel that Adachi's relationship with Dojima is twofold. On the one hand, he feels that becoming close to his partner in a physical sense provides a good cover and keeps Dojima from suspecting him in the case. He sees Dojima as emotionally vulnerable and takes advantage of it. But what grows out of that is a personal attachment that he's never been able to attain with a woman (Mayumi, Saki, the woman in my story, probably many others), if that makes sense.
Adachi's such a fun character to explore, so I was really grateful for your prompt. ♥

word, but I would consider a dude like him to be evil. (I'm a lady, so my thinking on this is colored by that.)
STILL, this bit is EXACTLY what I had in mind, too! He's a freakin' sicko, and yet the sickness is morbidly attractive. I find Adachi getting off to his own rape fantasy hot... and I thank you for writing it. ;)
