Oh, but of course, for some reason, luck wasn't on her side.
Someone at the department must have been at the hospital... that could be the only reason why...
"Being a detective is a guy's job... go home and be a good house wife... well, the next one better be decent," she muttered, picking up another letter. You'd think that adults would be beyond ridiculous notes, but the younger officers weren't above pranks. Besides the pranks, there were worst things that could happen.
"Shirogane-san, can I see that case file from yesterday?"
It was Chief Inspector Kita at her door and he looked... disgruntled. She raised an eyebrow, "What do you need my case file for?"
"... I also need the lists of suspects or the suspect's name and any evidence gathered," Kita continued. Naoto frowned, "You're removing me from the case?"
"Some information has been brought to light and I am to remove you from the case. Also, you will not receive anymore until further notice," Kita said, smiling, "Everything will be handled by capable people for now."
"... you're insulting my skills?"
"Hey, I'm not insulting your skills, but the superintendent is pissed. Should've said something about being a woman sooner," Kita said before leaving the office. Well, he would've left if the superintendent didn't come in at that moment, "Shirogane!"
"What?" Naoto asked, rubbing her forehead, "I'm getting the case files together for Inspector Kita, you don't have to..."
"I'm here for your badge!" the superintendent snapped, "You come into this station and deceive everyone in it!"
"!? You can't do that! I filed as a female officer! Ask the Senior Superintendent! It's not my fault your too thick to remember!" Naoto snapped, on her feet immediately. She really didn't have the hormone balance to put up with this at the moment.
The Superintendent didn't want to hear it, "I've been paying you wrong for years and giving you the wrong jobs! I'm suspending you!"
"Wrong jobs?! Wrong pay!? That was your choice not mine! I'm not giving you my badge sexist pig!" Naoto yelled, "And get out of my office!! I'm working!"
"This isn't your office! You're being irrational! I'm calling your husband!"
".... Detective Shirogane is married?" Kita asked as the superintendent picked up the phone, dialing. Naoto rolled her eyes, "For god's sake... I've had a ring on my finger for a few years!"
"Woah, calm down..." Kita said, looking outside of the office. Many of the other officers were watching what was going on through the window. In the back, he saw the female Officer Satonaka waving her hands and shaking her head, pointing at the superintendent, trying to signal 'stop him'.
Too late...
"Your wife is being unreasonable! I demand you come down to the station and take her home!" the superintendent yelled and slammed the phone down. Kita looked at the woman and she smacked her forehead, walking over to the door. Naoto shook her head and sat down, turning away. Kita was confused. Wait, who was Naoto married t--
The sea of officers parted, some looking like they wet themselves as a rather tall man walked through them. Pierced ears and nose, a scar above his left brow, leering hazel eyes and bleach blonde hair slicked back. The man wore black clothes which defined his muscles under his shirt, but that was under a yukata. He was... intimidating to say the least and the only officer brave enough to walk with him was the woman, Officer Satonaka opened the door, "In here, Tatsumi-san..."

"I... I demanded for your wife's badge and am ordering her to be suspended for... for false information," the superintendent said, not backing down... as best he could. Kanji raised an eyebrow, "What's the problem? She signed eve'ythin' as Naoto Shirogane before marryin' me and changed it after. Senior Superintendent knows she's a chick."
"... You married Kanji Tatsumi?" Kita asked, staring at Naoto. Naoto glowered, "Is that a problem?"
"A-Ah... no..."
"You're having Tatsumi's kid?" the Superintendent asked in disbelief. Kanji cleared his throat, "Son thank you..."
"... You know what? I'm clocking out early," Naoto said, rubbing her temples, "I'll be back tomorrow to talk about this."
She gathered her things and walked over to Kanji who greatly overshadowed her. He appeared like a guard dog, hair standing on end, but that was probably because of how it was styled. The superintendent opened his mouth, but Kanji glared at him, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and walking with her out. Naoto was silent, walking along with Kanji until he paused, "Kanji-kun...?"
"... One sec..." Kanji said. He looked around at the officers, "If I hear any of you shitheads messed with Naoto, you'll be answerin' to me, got it!? She's better than all of you and you know that so if I hear you messin' around with her cuz she's a woman, I'm breakin' your face in!"
The officers jumped and Naoto shook her head, "Geez... come on. I need something to snack on..."
"K... we'll get something on the way home," Kanji said, walking forward. Both of them left from the station, everyone still silent, but Officer Satonaka sighed, "Geez... Well, I'm going back to work. See all you sexist punks later."
The male officers were confused. The female officers were walking away too. There was a seminar on sexual harassment in the work place the following day.
