Yosuke caught a great gash across his chest near the end of their foray into the dungeon, sending Souji tumbling as he was tackled out of the way. Souji caught his breath as Yukari sent the Shadow into oblivion with a well-placed arrow, at Yosuke's side in seconds. She thrust out a hand to stop Yukiko from healing him, gripping a little tighter than necessary at his arm.
"You idiot," she hissed, the Diarama flowing through her into her cousin's body, his teeth gritted against the pain. "I can't heal you if you're dead."

"Yosuke?"
The boy looked up from his position, splayed out backwards on the couch in Souji's room; Souji was fiddling with the CD player, slotting in yet another of Yosuke's 'totally awesome bands, man, you gotta hear this'.
"Yeah?"
"Is Takeba-san seeing anyone?"
Yosuke snorted, then chuckled, then paused. "Haha, c'mon man, you're not...serious, right?"
Souji said nothing. Only when the growing look of horror on Yosuke's face reached his peak did he crack a smile, giving a small chuckle.
"Just kidding."
Yosuke glared at him. "Not funny, partner."

Souji, as usual, kept things to himself; it was the role of the leader, to carry those burdens without complaint to keep the rest of the team motivated and happy. Nonetheless, he found himself relieved to have Yukari around as well as a comforting presence in his life; she knew about Persona, so he didn't have to hide anything; she wasn't truly on the team, so he could confide in her without upsetting anything; and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind at all, no matter how acerbic it might be, so he didn't have to watch his words quite as much. He could rely on her for honesty as much as healing.
(Except when it came to him. She refused, utterly refused, to even start to talk about him. Souji sensed that this was one thing he should let go.)
Seeing her go was oddly bittersweet; she and Yosuke shared a short, affectionate hug as they stood at the train station on the day of her departure, making promises to stay in touch, to keep her updated on the case, and for Yosuke to finally do something, come on, you're not gonna get that Rise girl without asking her out, stupid. Yosuke was sputtering in frantic protests as the train pulled back, Yukari turning to wave goodbye to the rest of them, a slightly melancholy smile on her face.
The team watched until the train disappeared between the foothills, then turned as one, heading back towards the shopping district. Their confidence was bolstered by knowing that other Persona-users existed, that there was experienced backup to call on if things got too tough. That - and Souji only thought this, but judging from the vaugely disappointed expression on Kanji and Yosuke's faces as well, they were thinking something similiar - Yosuke had a really cool cousin that totally outclassed him. All in all, it was a good departure. Souji went to sleep that night, relaxed.
Two days later, Mister Moorooka was dead.
