Oh my heavens, over eight thousand five hundred comments in the last post alone. I feel so tardy and yet I briefly felt compelled to wait until we had over nine thousand, hoohoo~! Oh, even the oldest of memes gets a rise out of my... big and manly heart.

Yukiko still wasn't entirely used to the idea of a boyfriend. She's never needed one, never really wanted one, not until she met Souji. Maybe it was just a case of love at first sight (more like fourth or fifth sight, but it's a detail that doesn't matter). Whatever the reason, they had slipped into a relationship so easily that it was still a little startling for her to realize that the person walking next to her was her boyfriend.
His hand suddenly closed around hers and she glanced up at him. "If you're still worrying about the test," he said quietly, "you shouldn't be. You'll do great."
"You did take the top spot from me, though." she replied, smiling. "What if I want to take it back from you?"
He stopped and she tugged him to the side of the hall. It didn't matter that the place was completely empty, that most people had already left to hole up in their rooms and cram for the exams. It was automatic; the lesson that one shouldn't block the hallways so other people couldn't pass was one she'd gotten from birth, just another sort of legacy from the inn. But Souji took another step closer, pressing her closer to the wall and releasing her hand to face her. "Would you like me to apologize?" he asked. His tone was serious, but he was smiling, giving away the joke.
"No, I want you to do your best so I can beat you fair and square," she answered, and he laughed, resting his forearm on the wall behind her.
"That sounds fair." He leaned in closer to her and she could feel a blush burning a line across her face. She reached up to fix his collar - it had gotten crooked at some point - partially so she'd have an excuse not to look at his face. He let her, but she didn't let go once it was straight. She hesitated only slightly before looking back up at him.
"I love you." She hadn't spoken much louder than the whisper, but the halls seemed to take and amplify her words until they filled the whole space. She could feel herself blushing again, so she looked back down.
The arm that wrapped around her waist startled her, and she inhaled sharply as Souji ducked his head to smile at her. "I love you too," he said and kissed her.
