That would be the point of reading books pertaining to war.

Not necessarily. Some people read them to get a better feel for the conditions- what the trenches were like, how rations tasted, that sort of thing. Some people read them to learn about individual soldiers, too.

I already have personal experiences of such things. I don't need to read about them.
