At first I was weary because I was liking Greene but the more I thought about it the more I liked it.

First and foremost, we didn't really give up that much.

Bobby Jackson was a decent role player at best but with the added knack of shitting up the joint at the worst possible times. Sure, he was decent in our win streak, but that was without Yao along with other various injuries.

Donte Greene we could miss, but who knows. He definitely was going to be a project who might have got limited minutes at best over the next few years. He could be decent, but he's also a combo guard guy and those are plentiful. Furthermore, if you really look at it, Morey took a great summer league game and turned it into Artest. Pretty neat.

As for the 1st rounder, it would have been late anyway and we have about a 3 year window with Tmac at this level so its clear that we need to win now.

Sure, we have Battier, but I'm thinking Battier would be better as a Posey type 6th man. Great defense, great 3 point shot, great hustle. We won't lost much by not starting him.

I also think you overrate Landry a lot. He had a great second half of the year and showed some promise, but he his not as young as people think (almost 25) and has already shown to be injury prone. As much as we're full on undersized power forwards, I would like to keep him but he is not as valuable as Scola who only makes 3 mil. If another team wants to overpay for Landry then let them, and if he wants to get greedy and bolt for Europe then let him. He isn't that important to the team and Dorsey could realistically fill in nicely for him.

I think we have the makings of a good rotation now. Starting 5 of Yao, Scola, Artest (can play some 4 too), Tmac (can play 2 or 3, even point), and Alston. Barry can play the 1 or 2, Battier can play 2 or 3 (even 4 if we're playing small), Dorsey at 4 and maybe some 5, and if we keep him, Landry can back up at 3 and 4. Throw in another C (Deke if we bring him back or someone else) and we have a good 8 or 9 man rotation.

We need to win now, and looking at short term, Artest for Jackson and Greene is almost a steal. I hope Greene does well in Sac, but as long as Artest can be mature and be ok with being the 3rd option (I think Adelman will help ALOT with this) we should be looking at 57+ wins no problem as long as we stay healthy.

I still think landry would be huge to have coming off the bench; his energy was invaluable when we got bogged down in injuries last year and per minute he is a fantastic rebounder. Dorsey could be good but who knows...

Still though, already a history of knee problems. Not something worth the amount of money he's looking for at the moment.

We have a window man - we need the depth!
