Cafe Fina was Walter's last stop before leaving. There would be a car waiting for him on the causeway, from there, it would be a remarkably short trip home.
He let himself into the restaurant and found Alfred under the lone light on in the closed establishment.
"That's putting it mildly," Alfred said. He cocked his head to the side. "You know that your greatest weakness is your overcondfidence. And that you've killed many a vampire and demon and monster in your time here. But I'm an old man. And I worry. And you are going out to face a monster capable of far greater evil than any demon could hope to be capable of."
Walter nodded and opened the package, pulling out a well-made waistcoat, that nevertheless had the soft feel of a piece of clothing that had been worn and well cared for before.
Walter turned it over, examining it carefully before smiling at Alfred. "Thank you, sir. It is a very thoughtful gift."
