Lifetime of DCUO

Ok...

DC Online Universe (DCUO) has an option for a lifetime membership. It's $199.00. Sure it's expensive, but if you consider you pay $15 X 12mo = $180 for a year of reg. subscription it's not really a bad deal.

I got $200 for my birthday, and I'm actually considering it. Most MMO's only offer this Lifetime membership for the first little while, and if the game creates a following and and starts showing that fans are loyal they remove it.

Trust me... I'd have saved literally thousands of dollars if I'd had done this with EQ or EQ2. The question is will I want to play this game more than 1.5 years ( which will serve the purpose of me having purchased the lifetime membership).

On the plus side the game is gorgeous, it's super fun to blow off steam in PVP, and the battle mechanics are awesome (despite some gliches and exploits/balance issues that are being worked on).

I haven't had a subscription or played it in a while and apparently they've started a "marketplace" for micro transactions for new gear and in the future new power sets.... but really all MMO's are implementing these sorts of things to generate revenue, and most are being really cautious not to disrupt balance with "purchased" items.

It's quite a quandary. If I had the option I'd so spend $200 for a lifetime subscription of EQ2 because I keep coming back to it.
