I was watching some television today, and noticed that the new club LAX located at the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas, NV is getting some press... apparently all the celebs like the look, and wanna frequent it (don't be fooled Paris Hilton, and the other Hollycrew are paid mega bucks to show their faces in the new bars, to create hype)
Well, for all of you non-celebs out there that wanna know a non-celeb's take on the new club...
yeah the title of this entry says it all. I had the distinct displeasure of clubing there on multiple occasions.
The first time I walked through the grand steel gates of LAX I was quit impressed. The plush red walls were a sight to behold, the muffled dance trax beating on the inner walls were enticing, and the glittering sparklers sprinkling from Grey Goose bottles held high was breath taking.
The first night that I was there was for a private concert by non other than (the unkown to me) Laura Bryna (sp?) upcoming country vixen... The venue wasn't perfect... large red comfy couches crowded the floors, and drinks flowed like, well Wine. I didn't really care for the music (not a country fan), but it was neat to get into a new groove for a few minutes, and the Country Megastar Clint Black made a cameo, and decided to preform a few of his most revered songs... but I thought it'd be neat to sneak a peek at the club, so I accepted Laura's gracious invitation (my mom and I crossed her path in the elevator while going back to our room).
Upon deciding to go to the club on an actual CLUB night I was sorely disappointed... ALL of those lush couches and chairs were roped of, and labeled VIP... in fact the only way that you could sit down at all was to purchase a VIP package, which included: one sitting space for you and a couple of your friends, one bottle of Grey Goose Vodka (or something else if you insisted ..mixers included), and your personal server - for the low low price of $400.00 (min.) gratuity not included.
Now don't get me wrong I love VIP treatment as much as the next person, but I was totally put off by the fact that every table in the entire club, including the entire second floor was VIP only. The only place to even stand for non-VIP was on the tight little dance floor that also served as the only way to get across the room from one bar to the other... terrible set up, just terrible, which made it impossible to walk around and socialize.
I've been in alot of VIP rooms, and in hundreds of clubs... so I tell you with loads of experience that it was the most poorly set up club I had ever been to. I would not suggest this club if you should find yourself in Las Vegas, and in a club mood; even if you do have the extra cash to throw at it. The only employees at the club that were at all accommodating were the security agents located throughout the club, who all seemed quit nice, and anxious to help.
My suggestions try: Pure (which lives up to it's high energy reputation), Krave (which is one of the older clubs, but great prices, and Fun atmosphere), -or- Shadow, Tangerine, Cathouse, Parasol, or RumJungle (if you're just going for a few drinks, and don't really care to much about dancing... they all have great ambience)
