Let the Americans not forget we're fighting a war...
4 guys from our company got hurt. 2 were shot in the arm, one in the head, and one took glass shrapnel. And 2 others died. Both were sniped. The wounded and the 2 KIA's were seperate incidents.
Here's what happened.
KIA's: A VBIED went off. A QRF went to respond. And there were guys waiting, 2 guys were sniped. And the sniper got away. I have mixed emotions about saying there names. Because I want to respect their privacy, but I don't want them to just be numbers, I want to put a name to a face, so to speak. So I'll just say names, not rank or hometowns or anything. Roha was sniped. He's with us. And Buchannon. He's with the Brad's.
The Purple Hearts: A Brad out on an OP got lit up real bad. Like a group of 50 individuals. So they called Pain element for support. Red Plt. goes out with 3 trucks, and they get ambushed. Fire from all directions. Groves, gunning, went down pretty quick, that amazing ballistic glass on his turret shattered and cut him up good. Gil shot a guy with his 9mm, and he just happened to be wearing a suicide vest. So that dude BLEW up. Somehow he didn't take anyone else with him. Then the CO's truck came out to help. Like I said, it was over 50 mothafuckers. The CO's driver, Taylor, got shot in the arm. His gunner, Nicola, took a bullet through his Kevlar. Thanks God it just grazed the back of his head, and went through the other side of the Kevlar. And the CO dismounted and got shot in the arm too. His name's Lauer.
They called up Apaches. So they come out, and jets fly over to paint the crowd with IR spotlights for the choppers. But the choppers couldn't see shit, something about too many buildings. They lit shit up, but House Of Pain lost alot of faith in Apaches today.
Took no prisoners. Only one bad guy in the whole ordeal survived.
I can't beleive Roha's dead. One of the most pleasentest people I've met. His tank is deadlined, he's still all smiles. He gave people rides he hardly knew back in the rear. Back in Germany. It seems like a whole different planet.
...I'm not looking for attention. I just post these things so I can look back on the details. God forbid I ever forget the fallen.
