There's an assortment of pairing and characters in here (though, now that I read over it, I was kind of heavily biased towards Cloud...). Though...I missed a lot of characters. 'Specially since the songs weren't related to them, or I couldn't just figure out how to shove them into the writing. But the pairings in this thing? Are pretty easy to spot.
A lot of the drabbles aren't finished and I might, just might, go back to some of them and write them a little longer. Especially the ones with that "But it doesn't FEEL finished kind of ending.
----
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them~
1. What Makes Me Love Him - Sarah Brightman
There were times when Tifa would find herself stopping her daily chores and routines to look over towards the man sitting at the far end of the bar. Writing on little slips of paper, going through different orders, staring at the map laid out on the table. And she just could not help the thought that would pass her mind: What makes me love him?
There were many things that came to mind and, even if Cloud did not have those thing, Tifa was very sure that she would still be finding herself in love with him. Because Cloud did have his fault (he was awkward with his words, he occasionally forgot things, he…really wasn’t at all that romantic).
But she still loved him.
But the young woman could not put her finger on what exactly it was that made her love him as much as she did.
2. A Walk in Andante - Yoko Shimomura
Slow days would come by every now and then, but those were the days that Barret would thrive for. Because slow days meant that he could go and visit his darling little Marlene. She had been growing up into quite a fine young woman and it was all thanks to the raising that Cloud and Tifa were doing (and Barret himself, on those days he could go see her).
But on these days things still seemed to move quick while, at the same time, move a little slow.
Marlene would squeal in delight and run up and hug her father. Throw her arms around him and say, “I’ve missed you, Papa!”
3. Give You back - Verticle Horizon
Two years after her death and there were still times when Cloud would wonder if she was really gone or if she had really been there. It felt like a dream. Their time together, their adventures with the others, piecing little things together.
The love that he had begun to develop for her.
Clenching his hand into a fist, Cloud sighed as he stared down at the pool of water in the floor of the church. Sometimes, if he looked a bit too closely into it, he swore that he could see her face. See the lovely and sweet flower girl, her bright green eyes glowing with love and a smile on those lips of hers.
The vision fades all too quick for his liking (a little longer, just a little longer please) and the reflection behind him would turn to Tifa, her eyes filled with curiosity and Cloud just smiles at her.
4. Windy - Eugene
Tifa was aware of the feelings that Cloud had for Aerith. Had always been aware of them; it had been hard to not notice, especially from just how close the two of them seemed to have been prior to her death. Yet all that was over (she was dead and Tifa missed her friend so much) and Cloud was living with her now, said that he wanted to start a new life and that she would be there with him.
But there were times when she didn’t believe it. That she wasn’t the one he wanted to be living a new life with. Aerith had been very important to them all. She had started to change Cloud (for the better? For the worse?). He had seen her in his eyes.
And did he even see Tifa in those eyes of his?
She didn’t know.
And even when he kissed her, whispered that he loved her. She didn’t believe it sometimes. But she still loved him.
5. March of the Emperor - Jeremy Soule
A feared man was Rufus ShinRa.
Fear would overpower the people of Midgar. He would become the rock and stable pillar that they wanted. ShinRa would be the only source that they turned to. All those rumors that he heard (his little Turks would go wandering through the slums and the city, bring back all that people said) would soon be gone.
Those people would learn not to say such things about ShinRa.
6. Hepatica (KOS-MOS) - Yuki Kajiura
Even in death she could watch her friends, see the pain and the suffering each of them were going through. Could listen and read their lips. Wondered, just wondered, if things would have been different if she had not been killed. If she had still traveled with them along the journey.
Would Cloud had ever come back to his senses? Would Tifa have ever felt such a heavy burden of guilt?
Aerith didn’t know, she couldn’t even begin to know, but she wanted to. If she could make a change in their lives, help her friends (even the two most important people to her) just a little then…then perhaps they could get onto the road to recovery.
Yes, Cloud learned that he was never blamed for either her or Zack’s death. He learned that he was not alone at all. But something was troubling him even more. There was so much tension between him and Tifa. And Tifa was fighting with her feelings for Cloud.
What could she do to help them? What could she do, she wondered.
“Don’t worry about it.”
The voice from behind made her eyes widen, surprised that someone was even there, but a smile grew to her lips and she nodded her head. “They can take care of themselves, now.”
7. Gay Bar - Electric Six
Elena could feel every single muscle in her body tensing, her eye was twitching, and she wanted to absolutely pummel Reno into oblivion. That man… That stupid idiot.
“Hey, ‘Lena, what the hell is your problem?”
She hated him. She hated him so much.
“’Leeeena?”
Turning to the red head before her Elena just glared and said, “Reno. I’m not gay.”
8. Anger Towards Gods - Hiroshi Yamaguchi
Maybe there were no such things as a God or Gods. Perhaps those deities that they believed in, prayed to, hoped to save them, weren’t real at all. Because a God would not allow another so-called God to kill someone innocent, would they?
No. They couldn’t. Why would they? Those who they believed in were supposed to be kind and giving. Hopeful. They looked up to them.
…so why allow a God to kill an innocent?
9. Never Let This Go - Paramore
It was so hard to talk to Tifa at times; she would seem distant on some days and so happy on others. The children knew when not to bother her and then they also knew when to go and comfort her. But Cloud was not as intuitive as the kids. He was bright, but there were times when he could be as dull as a broken light.
He could feel the tension that was growing between them -- awkward and full of things not-yet-said.
If he could just up and say what he wanted to say then maybe Tifa wouldn’t be thinking things that weren’t true. Maybe then she would stop telling him that everything was all right and that he shouldn’t worry himself over her. And it was that Tifa that Cloud didn’t really like. The Tifa he knew wasn’t like that.
…did he even know her anymore?
Even if he didn’t, what they had between them (friendship, whatever their relationship was) Cloud just didn’t want to let it go. He couldn’t let it go. He could never let her go.
10. A World to Believe In - Yuna Ito x Celine Dion
“It’s over.”
Tifa turned her attention from the happy and lively scene in the church to the man at her side and she nodded her head. It was over. From deep down in her heart she knew that it was, that they could finally, hopefully, go back to the peaceful life that they had been living before. Cloud now had nothing to worry about, nothing to burden him.
His Geostigma was gone. All the weight on his shoulders had been removed.
He…looked so much more at ease and happy.
“Aerith was always here,” she said, finally, the smile that had been playing on her lips widening. She watched how his eyes softened and how he stared towards the children playing in the pool of whatever.
“Yeah.” He looked to Tifa and took her hand in his. “She was. And she’s given us something believe in, now.”
