WOW, Bob Rae shocks the nation by bowing out of the Liberal leadership race and offering his unconditional support to Michael Ignatieff. Ignatieff is YOUR new leader of the Liberal party.
This is absolutely huge. For people not too aware of Iggy, wikipedia him and check out his very impressive laundry-list of accolades. Motherfucker has a Phd from Harvard and taught at Oxford and U of Toronto. Very conspicuous lack of a law degree (for those unaware, Stephen Harper is the first Prime Minister in Canadian history to not hold a degree in law), however his time as a journalist and documentary filmmaker makes him a very intriguing choice, in my mind.
He has had positive and productive dealings with Harper in the past, he and Bob Rae are former university roommates, and he has published extensively on his plans for the country, should he ever be PM. Exciting time for Canadian politics.
