My favorite type of bad signage is the kind that uses quotation marks for "emphasis." It makes sense; a lot of people think titles go in quotes, so why wouldn't the title of a sign go in quotes, too, to distinguish what's really important on the sign? It's like italics or boldface type.

Of course, that kind of logic leads to signs that read TRY OUR "DELICIOUS" HOT DOGS-or maybe even "TRY" OUR DELICIOUS "HOT DOGS."

Until I find an actual hot dog sign like that, enjoy this advertisement for "fruit baskets" from the local supermarket.

I don't know what the numbers mean. Maybe those are the "model numbers" the customers use to "order" the correct "fruit" basket.
