The Pump, 38th Street, Manhattan, October 13, 2005
The Pump is a health-food chain restaurant in Manhattan, but I've only been to the one on 38th Street. On their walls they have a lot of autographed photos of professional weightlifters/bodybuilding-competition entrants. They also have a weirdly eclectic mix of other autographs, including obscure artists, cartoonists, short story writers, and other people you've never heard of. There's a photo of Mick Jagger and some other dude, for example, and the autograph isn't Mick Jagger's but the other dude's. And there's no indication of who this guy is. Mick Jagger's agent? His florist? Anyway. I've pondered these headshots for a while and I can't really find much rhyme or reason to them.
In addition to the headshots, The Pump lists its entire menu on a sign on the wall. Note that they offer deserts instead of desserts.
