Fed Ex & Smart Post & USPS & Woot.com

Dec 16, 2009 15:32

TL;DR: I get dicked around by FedEX/Smart Post about a package that should have been delivered Dec. 5th and is possibly MIA but no one wants to admit that and continually tells me its on the way or to wait to hear from someone.

I had two golf bags that I'd ordered from woot - after sitting in Texas forEVER I posted in their comments to see if I was the only one who hadn't gotten them yet. Some rep from woot answered and said my package was lost and refunded my card. Which was fine...but I would have rather had the golf bags.

Well...there was that news story about the UPS driver who was stealing package for the last nine years and either keeping the items or selling them on Ebay. They just caught him. I'm sure there are others.

What a pain in the butt! And I keep reading that tomorrow (Dec 17) is "free shipping day" for tons of online retailers, and stuff ordered tomorrow is supposed to be delivered by Christmas. Why do I have the feeling that we're going to be seeing a lot more disappointment posts like yours in the days ahead??

I don't think many of the places will have problems but smart post and USPS seem to be shitting the bedright now.

IDK. If FedEx delivered my confirmation to the right USPS post office and my package to a USPS post office in a completely different state I'm not so sure I would let them off so lightly!

From my understanding it's really just FedEx's name since USPS is handling it 99% of the time. So maybe people using FedEx and UPS won't have the same issues that Smart Post and USPS are having.

I have yet to have this kind of problem with UPS or non Smart Post FedEx.

I don't know about Fed Ex as I don't use them for a variety of reasons. However UPS always insists on only talking to the shipper when stuff like this happens, the consignee has basically no power at all.

I have second hand frustration for you on this one. Shipping issues are the biggest pain and to have no real power, as just a random schmo getting a package from somewhere...argh.

Woot.com sucks for putting you through this. It's their job to make sure your stuff ends up in your hands. I'd be chewing ears until I was blue in the face if something went missing for that long. It's missing in transit. It's probably at the bottom of the friggin' Atlantic at this point.

Well woot/coms' thing is they "don't have customer service so we can be out chasing down deals!" You basically trade emails with them with MAYBE a 24 hour reply time.

So with my last email I told them they can kiss my ass and they will hear from my bank. I'm also going to complain to the BBB. I don't know how much good that will do but I'm pissed.

If that's the way they always do things, being part of their pitch and all; BBB complaints aren't going to do anything.

I'm glad you filed the chargeback though; THAT will motivate them much more than a BBB complaint. Since you pay for chargebacks, I don't know many people who much care to check a businesses BBB record.
