Well, the suck is with your company, not the insurance company, for failing to inform you of the change, not getting the information in on time, and, if it turns out to be correct, lying about you having the same coverage.

I agree that a portion of the suck is with the employer...not informing us of an upcoming change. However, the insurance company had our info, they were the ones not putting us in the system and then putting us in under the wrong group number. When I called to check on our coverage they had our information from the employer.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one seeing total suckage. LOL ;)

Having been the benefits administrator at a couple companies, I can tell you, this is the employer's suck. They are the ones who enroll you, assign you to the group and it sounds like they totally messed up. When they enroll you, it comes up with a verification to make sure all the info is correct. Lazy benefits admins drive me nutty. SOrry it was such a pita.

It also seems kind of weird that they're switching your insurance plan in December. Usually it happens at the beginning of the year.

Seemed odd to us too. It took us completely by surprise when the insurance refused our script on December 1. I'm not really sure what went down.

Our company insurance plan renews annually on August 1. That also matches our fiscal year. FWIW I've worked for other companies that had insurance effective dates other than January 1

I have similar problem with MY insurance. They will cover my generic meds, but not the Brand Name ones for my Epilepsy. $200 a month if I go through the Pharmacy here, but only $127 for an online/mail in scrip.
