Rogers Wireless sucks

Yes, that title is profound, but it really sums things up.

I became a Rogers customer almost 3 years ago. When I started my contract, I had it on an old crappy phone that broke about a week into my service, so I had to go back and buy a phone. They put it on a new account, and told me my old account was cancelled. THEN, every month, when I made my ( Read more... )

Quick question...why are you still with them?? Seriously, after the first year of being fucked over like that I would have been out of that sooo very quickly. And wouldn't that first year totally screw up your credit rating? Grrr, I would want to rip their throats out or their balls off. Poor you!

Not the OP, but they're likely still with Rogers because there's almost no competition in the cell company market in Canada. I'm not in the same province as the OP, but in my province we have 4 options that I know of - MTS, Telus, Rogers, and Fido. Rogers and Fido are actually both part of Rogers, but pretend they're not the same company. Telus has good rates but lousy service, and MTS just sucks overall for cell phones.

So there's not much to pick from here except bad, worse, and worst.

Yeah my brother's on Telus and every month there's charges on his phone for things he didn't do like downloading new ringtones and playing webgames. Their rates are good but I wouldn't want to deal with that crap every time my bill came in.

I agree with you - Rogers sucks.

Says the girl who just signed up for 3 more years with them, at outrageous phone upgrade prices, and who spent an hour on the phone last night having her bill corrected.

I figure they're the lesser of all the phone company evils in Canada though.

Switch to Telus, you may be able to get a new phone FREE for switching.
I pay $35 a month for unlimited evenings/weekends, free telus to telus calls, free text messaging, $7 for voicemail caller ID and call forwarding and AND.. I have an assload of day time minutes.
Ive been with Telus 3 years in October and don't have a single complaint.

I hate TELUS only becuase I live on an island on the border of the states and canada (I'm in the states) and when I'm "roaming" I'm appearantly a TELUS customer, and they're jackasses when you have to deal with them about "international issues"

I had a Roger's phone once. The batter fell off all the time and my house was a no-service zone. Woohoo.

Is switching to Bell an option for you? My friend has a Bell phone and she's happy with the service. I'd choose Bell over Telus any day if you're looking to switch from Rogers.

I think I will give Rogers a month to see if it gets better and see if that guy actually calls. What can I say? I am an eternal optimist. I have been thinking about Bell though...

Stay away from Bell too - they are awful. I was with them for a couple of years and finally switched to Telus. I've never been happier with my cell service.
The nice thing if you're switching companies, though, is that now you get to keep your phone number so you don't have to deal with that crap.

And OT, but is Kelowna bigger than Nanaimo? I always thought Nanaimo was a bit bigger. About the same size maybe?

Kelowna is double the size of Nanaimo and growing.

And now, you can take your number with you, so that isnt an issue.

I had no idea! I did a search to try and find population numbers for Kelowna and came up with everything from 107,000 to 147,000. That's a big difference, so I had no idea what to think.
