Twice in the last three weeks UPS has left packages on my porch, in full view of the street -- when the screen door was unlocked, with a foot of stoop behind the screen which would have hidden the package. The second package was books, which was no big deal, especially as I had forgotten they were coming (I had ordered them months ago). The first package was the replacement transmitter from Direct TV. Clearly marked as from Direct TV. On a rainy day.
i ordered some computer parts for work and had them shipped to my house as the company credit card was maxed out, had to use my own...
The courier put the entire box of computer parts in my door way, and left the screen door propped open against it.. $1500 of computer equipment 10 feet from the sidewalk in a neighbourhood full of annoying kids.
I had a worldwide delivery company leave a huge box with a digital camera package worth $2,000 ON MY DOORSTEP, WHILE I WAS INSIDE THE HOUSE, WITHOUT BOTHERING TO KNOCK OR RING THE DOORBELL. I know because I was sitting in the room beside the front door waiting, and I knew that sometimes they just left things without getting them signed. I watched (mouth agape) as the guy walked up past the empty driveway, LOOKED at the closed front door for a second, set the massive box down on the doormat, got in his car and drove away.
I rang the company and tore them a new one as soon as his car was out of my driveway. The guy was (so I was told, anyway) fired.

Lo and behold, my box from UPS is in the carport. I live on a busy street. How frigging bright is that? Do they get trained to do that?

Why do people use these shippers?
