Pickings are Slim

Alright, I know searching for a new RP is always hard, but it seems like the crap you have to wade through just gets deeper over time. I mean, you always had to wade through five or six aweful sites before finding something worth while, but now it seems like you have to get through hundreds of piles of crap to find anything. Anyway, I digress.

Yeah, I'm joining you on not liking PBs (or "picturebitches" as I occasionally call them) either, for similar reasons. If given the choice between taking an image of the actual character from the actual source material, or stealing somebody else's likeness without their knowledge or permission, who happens to vaguely resemble the character in some superficial manner, the fact that a lot of games REQUIRE me to make the latter choice always baffles me.

When I hear about something like this, where the players have apparently decided to entirely divorce themselves from the source material and then demand that new players do likewise, I'm frankly at a loss.

I'm tempted, the next time I join a game such as this, to get a photo of an eyeball - in fact, just a tightly-cropped iris and pupil - and use that as my PB. "It's a photo! Of a real person! I assure you, it looks exactly like my character's eye should look! There's no rule saying how MUCH of the face needs to be visible!"

Ugh. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Nothing - NOTHING - about online rpgs bothers me more than photo-based PBs.
