'Go Away' does not mean 'I love You'

Good day all. I figured it was finally time for me to post something. This is an ongoing RP, so who knows. We may get follow-ups.

I'm currently doing a Pokemon Roleplay over Aim with someone,  a trible gijinka -styled pokemon. My character is a older {around 55} male charizard. He's grumpy, foul, and generally just wants to be left alone. So I will ( Read more... )

Notwithstanding the numerous ways in which the person described is being failsome:

It rather irks me whenever I see the women in a character's past being mentioned as evidence that they're not into guys. Mostly- or near-totally-gay guys could be in denial, or pursuing as many women as they can in a bid to "fix" themselves. Then there's the oft-forgotten option of bisexuality.

Valid points otherwise, of course. It's just that that specific one is not automatically a point against the possibility.

Ah, yea, I was just trying to find a way to make this person understand that Grumpums + Twinkles isn't happening. That was the only one that made them take a slight pause.

Oft-forgotten? Have you been around fandom lately?

It's not a fucking unreasonable assumption that someone who has dated a lot of women and only women is straight. You're not going to be right all of the time but the alternative - pretending that those relationships just didn't mean anything and were all disingenuous cover stories - is way worse.

But it is evidence. It's not proof, not by a long shot, but it is evidence.

I was gonna say the same thing. Also, this is a character the OP made up. In this case, the character is a straight man. So this isn't one of those instances with a person playing a character from an established series as straight, and yelling at other people who play that character as gay or bi, using 'We've only ever see him have relationships with the wimmins' as proof. Then, I could understand raising the argument that it isn't proof. But, here, I think the OP might know their own character's preferences, and whether he really does like the ladies and only the ladies.
