God Modding. The bane of RP.

Dec 07, 2010 00:57

My first ever rant. Here's hoping I make it a good one.

Now let's get a couple of things straight here. We good people probably all know the term "God Modding" which, for those of you who have yet to encounter it, is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries.

The absolute worst is when they make out another character to be what they’re not. And what we mean by that is that somehow they justify the fact that it is their given right to make their own character seem superior. They make others seem weak, screaming for help, when they’ve made it quite clear about their advantages and strengths. This is called power-play. It’s a strain of God-Modding, but instead of just being irritating, it’s offensive to boot.

(definition taken from Urban Dictionary)

So now that we've clarified that little issue I shall discuss you and your amazing muse, oh and I use that term so very loosely.

The premise for your muse is great. So much potential but your execution? DIABOLICAL!

To the point where I question whether you just have an addiction for creating new muses and then letting them all fall to the wayside whilst you become enamoured with yet another new one.

Okay, so I won't focus on your flaws... for now. Let me just say this though: it is generally recommended when RPing as part of a TEAM that you involve your character in TEAM activities. This means that they must get involved with the other muses and sometimes do things that they (aka you) don't like because that is the true way of the world. It also means that you need to flesh your character out by having them talk, chat, interact or do things.

Do not complain to me that there is nothing to do on the comm and then when opportunities do arise you just sit back and do NOTHING! Hell you even go so far as to complain about the stuff you have to do because it's not what you want to do. Or!! Even worse! You get these ideas, suggest them and never follow through! If you don't want to play in the sandbox... get out! Seriously. You know where the door is. Leave it wide open for people with characters that are more than one dimension and actually want to put in the time and effort to make a decent RP experience for all.

And when I do pretty much call you out on how your character seems pretty much perched high up on their pedestal at least have the decency to admit defeat with grace. Don't try and back pedal or worm your way out of it by placing the blame and lack of ability on my muses or the muses of others. It's not only pathetic and sad but a little bit boring if I am honest.

Normally I'm not like this. Normally I'd keep my mouth shut and vent my irritation another way but today? Today you deserve to be publicly ridiculed even if no-one knows who you really are on here and only I can rejoice in the knowledge that I have pointed out your flaws and mocked you for them.

Petty? Yes.

But boy do I feel good.

godmoding, you might be a bad roleplayer if, serial fail, mary sue
