WoW stuff

So I'm thinking about all the RP fighting talk and aside from the fact that it cements in my mind that RP fighting is a terrible idea, it reminds me of my WoW days.

In WoW it's not that uncommon for people to RP fight. Like, through emotes. In a MMORPG. With a built in complex combat system.

This has always been a pet peeve of mine, possibly ( Read more... )

You're assuming that WoW PVP has ever been a fair, balanced system. Besides, Rping out a battle is more open and descriptive rather than just mashing buttons at each other.

It's one of the best balanced games out there, man.

I agree. Get good gear, use your talent points well and don't pick fights you can't win and you'll do well.

It's got good balance, yeah, but 1 vs 1 will never be truly fair. Some classes are just designed to wreck others, and that's fine. Sometimes your warrior might lose to that mage, sometimes it won't, but you shouldn't expect to win everything every time.

But the fact that mages often lose to warriors is universe flavour, too. I don't see how disregarding the parameters of the world is fairer just because your char might be at a disadvantage.

"Mages often lose to warriors"

Bad mages.

Some classes are just the scissors to your paper.

You sound like you suck at the game.

Yeah. I mean, mashing buttons is enough to get you through the levels, I guess, but...

WoW isn't even that hard. I could get if you suffer from lag, whatever, that's fine, but if you've got a perfectly decent comp and connection and you want to play Badass McGee, why don't you put your money where your mouth is?

High Warlords got RESPECT back in the day on RP servers. People knew not to mess with them, or they'd kick your shit hard.

Played a Pally since classic... The game has never been PVP completely balanced and classes have suffered PVE nerfs for PVP reasons. Classic warlocks could use fears to roflstomp a single opponent, and some were skilled enough to take on 3 opponents by themselves and win hands down.

Yes, things are more balanced than they once were, but it will never be perfect. Don't act like it ever was perfect.

Some classes did have periods of utter OP. Rogues could kill just about anything if they played smart, warriors became utter beasts once they geared up, ret pallies during the beginning of BC, etc., etc., but Blizzard will always end up fixing these classes, even if it takes awhile.

And there are always work arounds. I never had trouble with warlocks, but then I played an undead rogue and warrior back in vanilla.

I'm not sure as holy priest I would engage in duels. Just saying.
