I play in a WoW guild whose plot centers around killing all these unbound disguised demons who have recently infested my server and for some reason have found myself on the pointy end of the general Sharpened Broom Handle 'o Server Hatred. Okay, I think people are getting a little unreasonable here, on both sides. It seems the main argument point boils down to what an individual thinks should be done in response to a fail!player on a game like WoW. One side thinks you should just /ignore them because of their obvious fail; the other side believes you should respond to their fail IC, even if you think it's fail OOC

But if the only outcome for a demon character when meeting the OPs character is death (or godmoding to get out of it) that's not going to encourage good RP, is it?

I HAET DEMONS is just as one-dimensional and boring as I R DEMON. And the OP gave no indication they wanted these players to improve, they just want to kill demon characters. They have an entire guild for it, apparently.

You do have a point there, as far as only allowing for one response ICly. That I do think the OP could improve on. Though to also be fair, if these OMGDEMINS are running around talking about eating babies and whatnot, trying to justify an IC response other than "Imma kill you horrible creature!" would be difficult.

Well yes, the demon players haven't exactly covered themselves in glory either. Honestly, both sides look like dicks. The OP seems to be approaching RPers that are probably going to be bad, baiting them and then coming here to complain when, surprise surprise, they don't turn out to be the most mature people OOCly when their character gets stomped in.

And I do wonder if the OP would allow their character to be defeated by one of these demons or not. Unless you take it to a duel, I honestly don't see how these IC fights are settled fairly.

I don't exactly run around baiting. My character's gotten the everliving shit beat out of her by demons before, too. I try to keep it balanced. But like themiskyra said, it is hard to come up with a different response. :C So far she's got a subplot running where she actually made a deal with a demon to save someone else that is kind of making things better.

You give the impression that you do not like their characters OOCly, and that you are looking down on them as RPers.

The whole thing seems passive aggressive to me.

I didn't make the guild, I joined it. If that's the impression I give off, I'm more than happy to correct it, if people would speak to me civilly as opposed to just telling me to deactivate my account, ya know?

You can't seriously expect that from the kind of person who plays a babyeating demon, can you? They're probably all twelve, emotionally at least. And frankly, if a guild gets a reputation as elitists or griefers, well, individual members are probably not going to be given the benefit of the doubt.

That's why the response you're getting from this comm is basically, 'Well what did you expect?'

Because seriously, what did you expect? WoW Rp is a cesspool at the best of times, and you're talking about some of the worst character sterotypes.

So because it's WoW RP, we should never post it on this comm because it's a cesspool at the best of times and therefore we can never rant about it on a comm that is for ranting about bad RP.

I think part of the issue is some people are calling this "bad rper meets bad rper" which doesn't have to be the situation. We have no knowledge about any of the OPs other situations (which they've stated in comments don't always end in their favor). Demon players don't always have to be bad, as it actually isn't lore breaking for a demon to disguise themselves as another race (there are several that are the targets of quests in old world). Sure it's easy for them to come off as "special snowflake" though.

I think part of the issue, though, is with WoW and any form of RP (or not RP) we run into 2 main groups: "Follow the lore/rules!" groups and "WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY HOWEVER WE WANT!!!!!" groups. For those of us inbetween we always get declared to be part of the opposing extreme of whoever we end up in an argument with.
