All we wanted to know was why...

Dear Quebec Guy,

You were an active part of our board for a good long while. Everyone considered you to be a skilled writer--a feat made all the more impressive by the fact you were a Francophone on an English language forum. We enjoyed hanging out with you in the chatbox. When you suffered personal setbacks or crises, we did our best to be there for you. Yes, we may have only been Internet friends, but we still cared, dammit.

I forged multiple links between my characters and yours. One of your boys was my Jedi Master's terrifying nemesis. Another was her treasured Padawan. A third served under my starfighter pilot's command, within a squadron so tightly knit as to be considered a family. We invested a lot of time and creativity into developing these IC relationships. I loved our threads, always looking forward to your replies.

Many other players did the same as I in this department. You deliberately wove your characters deep into the fabric of multiple personal plots. You always acted enthusiastic about getting involved in everyone's stories. Far as we knew, you were completely happy with the game as a whole.

Then one day... you were gone. No warning, no explanation. At first, we figured you were just busy; real life always takes precedence over RP. But as the days turned into weeks and then into months, we started to get very worried. Had something horrible happened to you? Did your family experience another tragedy? Multiple times we sent you messages and emails, hoping to hear from you again, wanting to know if you were okay.

Then we started seeing you on Chatango and Skype again. Hooray, we thought, you were alive! We sent you our glad tidings... and we were not only ignored, we were blocked. All of us, every time.

What the hell, Quebec Guy? So many important plot points were left hanging by your departure. The IC development of numerous characters were screwed over as a result. If you didn't want to play with us for whatever reason, would it have cost you so damn much to say so? Would it have been so fucking hard to tell us you were bored, that you thought we sucked, that you'd found another game you liked better... anything? We would have been sad you felt that way, but we would've moved on. It's just a game, after all.

But no. You couldn't pay us that simple courtesy. We were always there for you, and in return you dropped us like a bad habit. Yes, we took it all very personally... it would've been hard not to. Especially after you'd railed loudly against another player who'd pulled a similar trick months before. The sheer hypocrisy of your behavior couldn't have been more galling.

First we were hurt. Then we were angry. Many of us still are. Fuck you, Quebec Guy, and the goddamn bicycle you rode in on. If you ever darken our doorstep again, we will punt your ass out so fast you'll get whiplash.

With much disgust,
Bad Cop Admin

ETA: Edited to make it clear I'm only mad at one guy in Canada and not all Quebecois as a whole. :)
