O....kay...

No, it is NOT a double-standard of me to get frustrated when people use "spheres" or "optics" or "orbs" or "spheroids" or even freaking "optical orbs" to describe eyes on a human character, and use said words to describe parts of android characters. Why? Because, I play two robotic characters, you know what they don't have? Eyes. The first one is clueless, and has literally (in first person) referred to them as optical receptors, because, by all intents and purposes, they are. If you had used "orb" to describe, I don't know, an actual spherhical object on a staff, or a crystal-ball type thing? I'd have been fine with it. If it were your character speaking, mine would assume that that's what people called them and move on. When you said "optics" and I was like "uh...your character doesn't...have those," flipping a shit on me because "ZOMG BUT YOUR ANDROID CALLED THEM THIS THAT AND THE OTHER THING", to which my response is "yes, ey also doesn't use names of reproductive organs, ey just kind of describes them, are you going to do that too?" is kind of uncalled for.
The other, not so clueless, and a lot less adorable and nice (unless you're me or people as strange, then you think she's adorable). She has lenses. She does not have eyes. She does have all sorts of things that are fun to describe that use words that most human characters should not be described with. Like "chrome". Please do not describe someone with gray hair's hair as "chrome", it isn't. Also, no, I was not describing her "eyes" or rather, the closest thing she has to them, with the word "spheres" I was describing, quite literally, giant spheres that are attatched to her. That's not purple. Again, if your character had traits certain words apply accurately to? By all means, describe them that way. Your character just ICly talks funny? Awesome, knock yourself out. You just wanna use a fancy word for "eyes"? No.

TL;DR: No, some characters that aren't human CAN use words you wouldn't use to describe a human. They actually might apply. There are instances in which they apply to humans too, but they need to apply to the pup in question to not be purple. That is all.

doesn't mean what you think it means, drama llama, buy a clue, dumbass, purple prose
