#1 A.K.A. Why some players disturb me.
I've tried to get this out of my head, and just can't, so I'm hoping by posting here it will get it out of my system once and for all. I was recently on a Disney RP forum. Having visited before, but not in a long while, I knew what to expect and was prepared to be open minded. After all, people like to humanize the animal character, gender bend them, and of course there was the usual amount of slash and general smut posts. Not a big deal, and in fact I enjoyed reading some of them. Then I ran into a thread involving Andy, Woody, and Buzz from Toy Story. At the top, they had stated they turned the jealousy triangle from the movie into an AU romantic love triangle. Ooookay, not exactly my cup of tea, but I wasn't about to be judgmental. Then looking at the forum icon, I discovered that while Woody and Buzz were grown men, Andy looked at the most 14. This creeped me out to no end, but I thought maybe the character just looked young. No dice. The character is a prepubescent teenager, and has two grown men both trying to sleep with him. I'm not sure which player I felt most squicked out about, the one who started the mess (Andy) or the fact there were two other players who kept it going. So thank you, you sick trio, you are the first people who finally managed to disgust me over a weird Disney fetish.
#2 A.K.A. Play the game you started.
Recently, on LJ, you might have noticed the 'baby meme' that's been floating around. For those of you who are unaware, I repost it here in full: "If we shacked up and a child was concieved, how do you think the kid would turn out? Comment with the following: Full name, gender, PB (if you can find one), three personalilty traits, and anything else you wanna add!" Now, its fun for the lulz, and I enjoyed it. But some players of a comm I am a part of starting really digging it. Keep in mind, most of the characters are canon. They started chatting about nothing but what everyone's children would look like, and then some started creating journals for their characters' kids. So far, no harm, no foul. Then they started neglecting game play in favor of what they deemed their new 'future verse.' Now, they are stating that these kids are now canon, (even the crack ones that was created from two brothers!) so now everyone involved is stuck with their current significant other. I'm thanking my lucky stars I never posted that meme for any of my characters or got involved romantically, so at least I dodged that bullet. So, now, I'm stuck in a game that I basically already know the ending to, which is currently fading fast, with canon characters getting played less and less. All because some people prefer playing 'lulzy! crack is fun and now this means our OTPs are permanent forever! <3' to anything remotely serious.
