Possibly nitpicking, so I apologize in advance: People with mental disorders, PTSD especially =/= crazy people. :\

That said, that is fail. I do not grasp the concept of making that the entire point of your character. I know a girl who does basically exactly this, except her kid's only real character trait is that he's gay. Oh and also he happens to be a musician but mostly that he's gay. And married. And gay. It seems like this person is just playing up the attempted rape so she can be like "Hey. Heeey. HEY. LOOK AT ME. I AM A DELICATE BROKEN FLOWER. LOOK. HEY OVER HERE."

I would not call this a nitpick. I would call this a very sensible comment.

I would lean towards calling it a slight more of a nitpick since the word itself is only used once and at all other times is referred to as 'mental disorder'. It was simply that much easier to write 'crazy people' in place of 'those with mental disorders' because... well, it's not meant to be 100% politically correct. An understandable concern if it was only referred to as crazy, of course, but since it wasn't... I'm sure you understand. Not that I am offended by the misunderstanding I just don't think it should be allowed to stand. Thank you.

Sorry, but calling somebody on referring to people with mental illness as "crazy" is not a nitpick. The fact you only did it once isn't an excuse. At all. It is still really, really offensive.

It sounds more like her problem is selfishness. She makes your characters OOC so the story can revolve around her. It's not surprising that she'd mangle a disorder to fit her needs.

I will never understand why people like this don't just write fiction.

I do - because if they wrote fiction then they wouldn't be able to get attention from other people nor use the ideas that they come up with - characters and such - to stick in with their own. A severe lack of personal creativity and imagination, I think.

This is like a bedtime story for me, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside so I can go to bed happy. It also makes a good thing to read when you wake up, and with lunch. I will love you forever for this.

don't center all your character's reactions/thoughts on one person who isn't even around and for the love of all that's holy

This seems to have gotten lost in all the crazytalk. I have a similar issue.

I have written before with a character whose first response, every single time I have joined the thread, has been to think "where is [that other character I wanted to join this thread instead of you, the only one I ever want to join, why the hell did you get here first and please other character, save me from this one]?"

At least, that's the impression I get every time I see it. It might be unintentional, since said character never actually does show up in the thread, which I've had happen to me before. But it gives the same vibe, like all they think about is one other character, period.
