It's called PSL for a reason. As in, if you're really only going to ship with each other, then don't bother planning things out and leading other people on.

This didn't happen to me, but it happened to one of my best friends and she's very hurt by it-

There are two girls in our RP group that are dating RL, and we're all fine with it. They ship almost all their characters together and hardly interact with anyone else, but whatever. Two of their characters did scene with someone else- we'll call the boy character A, and girl character B. A was engaged to C (my best friend's girl), and I'm not sure if B was engaged to D, but they were certainly in a relationship.

You HAD to make A and B sleep together? Come on! You gave no indication to either C or D's writers that this was going to happen or that something was wrong in the SL, and you kept it quiet. FOR A WEEK! Sure you 'made them drunk and things happened' but you guys have proven that you'd rather only scene with each other, anyway. I like playing with you both when it does happen and you guys are nice people, but OOC =/= IC. Just because you hook up doesn't mean all of your characters have to. Now my best friend is hurt and annoyed because she feels led on and I'm turning into an angry, wounded bear that doesn't know what to do because I can't fix it.

Thankfully, even though she was going to drop C, writer of D was upset too and offered to do a line of sorts. But that doesn't excuse what you did. And offering to have *AA sleep with *CC 'so that you can do it to B'? CC has a boyfriend, too! So you'd just want her to do it to another one of her SL partners? How does that make any sense?

*AA and CC refer other characters played by the same writers, who have a very strong friendship.
