What exactly is "mang?" Have I witnessed the creation of a new slang term and simply not noticed it?
I can see your point, but in your original post you seem to be getting irked because...what, it's gotten complicated since you left? I just went and read the rules and policies, and it all looks pretty well-organized and fair to me. I'd think for a game with the size and subject of Digital Dive you'd need that many regulations to keep the unruly players from stepping out of bounds.
If you think this is bad, I'd love to see your reaction to Damned.
Oh shit I looked at Damned the other night, shit looked crunk.
I think you're right, though, this probably stems from my lack of experience with LJ RPs. My main is thisisarea42, and it's just.. simple. It's fun. There's none of this crap, you know?
Of course it's slipped since it started-- ... I guess all RPs change. I just don't agree with it, because I'm a fan of "it's just for fun". I hate everything being super serious.
Thanks for making me think, instead of useless mocking.
...so is there a reason you added another extra letter? Isn't that kind of counterintuitive?
I honestly don't think quality control can be counted under "crap." I think there are some RPs that expect too much - let's look once again at Damned - but it doesn't seem like Digital Dive asks too much of its members. I mod at two different RPs, and the mod teams for both games ask for about the same amount of quality control Digital Dive does. I don't think it makes it "super serious" - I just think it makes it a more enjoyable environment for people. A good number of the complaints for canon-based RPs on this comm are about OOC players, and if quality control can prevent that awkward and frustrating experience in a game then I'm all for it. You can have quality control and still have fun, after all.
I always use that word instead of mang. It's just a personal preference, I think.
I think you're right 100%. I still think the mods are sandy based on personal experience with them and the way they handle questions from new RPers, but I think this was a case of be being butthurt over Dive turning to something like that more than the RP being super strict.
I do still, however, think there's a horrible clique problem at that RP.
So yes, thank you. TALKING LIKE A PERSON GETS YOU PLACES.
I have a friend who writes the most detailed (and entertaining, which is a tough combo to do) applications I've ever seen.
The mods sent hers back with a revision notice.
That's about the point where I decided I'd never join, since it took me three days to crank out a six-page application. I'd never handle the thrity+ they want. XD
BITCH, ZOMBIE'S COMING UP THE HILL RIGHT NOW! SHOOT 'EM IN THE HEAD! SHOOT 'EM! GRAB YOUR SHOTGUN! YOU DON'T NEED TO LOAD IT, WE DID THAT SHIT FOR YOU!
Honestly, if you don't want quality control, join a dressing room.

Guess it makes sense that I wouldn't know that term, seeing how I don't drink or smoke. =/
