I saw this and just had to share. I would never teach my horse to rear (alt. phrasing I would never teach my horse that rearing is an acceptable and rewarded behaviour.)but if I did i would stop the minute he started to strike out and walk into me on his hind legs. I was personally waiting for him to ( Read more... )

a) what a super nice quality video for a start. wow.

b) what a super nice pony too. he's DIVINE.

c) my horse can totally do all that but no training involved! he even gets the same crazy look in his eye like, "HELLO BIATCHEZ IMA TAKE OVER DA WORLD!" when he stands up to wave hello like this cutie.

he looks like a very sweet and responsive horse. she's just throwing her energy at him & he's got nowhere to go but up. i think she may have learnt this by accident one day & harnessed it into this game.

a horse like this would make a lovely 'trick' or liberty pony as he's so responsive but she is doing such a disservice by yelling at him with her body language so much. crank the level down by about 90% and see what happens. he does seem to want to challenge her so a head injury or something is just around the corner unless she figures out how to tone it the fuck DOWN already. actually ASK him to rear and he might do it without jumping about and striking out.

and that's all apart from the obvious danger of training to rear.

it's not the cleverest thing to be teaching him tho & she's not doing it with any finesse or style. kind of like chucking a curb chain onto your horse & cranking it's nose in & thinking it's 'on the bit' and 'collected'.

What a SUPER cute pony. He looks a little bit nervous to me. Like at any minute he might decided, eh LOOK AT ME I CAN REAR. Even when she walked up to pet him he looked like he was going to explode.

When I lunge my Arab sometimes he gets that fiery look in his eyes, but as soon as I set the lunge whip down and walk up, he licks and chews, lowers his head, and puts his happy ears on. This guy looked like he wasn't able to relax.

Still SUPER cute.

I feel like I don't need to make a separate comment, because you've stated everything on my mind. No need for me to repeat others :)
