It's the horses fault!

The way I read the description it sounds like she is blaming the horse for her jumping him badly. The horse isn't a good jumper in the video but falling behind as much as she did probably didn't help him much ( Read more... )

I read "he can't half jump" as meaning he's a really good jumper.

I did too...and he might be, if she didn't smack him in the mouth and back over every single fence.

I agree. Looks like he could be a pretty epic jumper with a good rider.

There's something weird with his upper body with the way he lands...maybe it's just the angle and me being weird, though. Still, but I would pinpoint it to the fact that she's not really asking him for any sort of, you know, form or anything BEFORE the jump, and then, oh, not releasing...

Now, Harry here looks like his jump is hard to stick with, sure, because he's strong off his back end, but stop hitting him in the faceeeeee. If you're having trouble hanging with his jump, don't jump higher, end of story am I right?

The horse's arc is disrupted midway to 3/4 over the fence by her not giving enough of a release. Granted, I've not read the video description or anything, but I get the impression from her body language over the fence that she's concerned about being taken off with on the landing. She is not flopping around or losing her leg over the fence; her release is the only thing that is standing out to me. Her leg kicks forward slightly on the landing, which may in part be her trying to stabilize her landing, but I think it's also her trying to create more leverage to hold him back when he lands. This is coming from a trail rider, so I may be off base here, but I have friends who jump.

Eh. He needs some training... going out rather than up, working over grids, that sort of thing... to get his form where it should be. He deer leaps, but he's not being bad. The rider gets thrown around a bit, but it's tough to sit a jump like that. Seems more like training fail than riding fail...
