Bam stands in the middle of the grey floor -- on carpet that might have been blue or black at one point, maybe -- and sighs, watching the guy click and clack his phone over veined hands. It's not like he doesn't know what he’ll say, and watching him fuck around just to waste time and get some gratitude out of him is annoying.

"There doesn't seem to be a problem with your phone, sir. May I try the same number you've been having trouble with, just to make sure? Or is there a privacy issue here."

He waves his hand like he doesn't care. Sure he doesn’t.

The guy dials with the company phone, and he winces at the immediate pickup -- at the confused "Hei?" in a voice that flips his stomach over like a pancake.

"Yes, hello, I'm an employee of..." The voice fades away, and by the time the man turns around to tell him it's not the phone that's breaking down, he's gone.

He only glances back once, into an aged face of confusion, pocketing his phone with a jerk that he didn't intend to make.

Just for good measure, he picks it up again in the cab, staring at the screen while it rings, seeing Ville doing the same thing like it's outside the window instead of the rain.

Nobody picks up this time.
