A human being has yards of skin. So, why does one tiny tear hurt enough to require your focus?
Sometimes I find myself discovering cuts on my body that I didn't know existed, but the moment they're brought to my attention they begin to sting. I think that kind of phenom occurs in the mind too.
Just like our skin, our psyches have their share of injuries that we are able to ignore until all of a sudden we're forced to face our wound head on...and it's not until that moment that it begins to hurt like hell.
All we can do is blow on it a little to soothe the pain and move on.
