Resplendance Froth

This weekend I went to a Flembic player event, a splendid masked ball at a country house. I had a very good time, but it was not a terribly good idea.

See, as you may or may not know, I am at the moment a little bit pregnant. Not quite pregnant enough for looking at grainy photos of tiny humans and going squee, but quite pregnant enough to be dizzy and/or sick at the slightest provocation.
This meant that I spent the greatest portion of the weekend sitting quietly on a sofa making conversation, playing word games and being brought tea and cake by a series of lovely people. I was not up to dancing, or indeed eating large dinners, and had to flee several times to the sofa to avoid both.

However, in spite of being sickly and feeble, I had a great time! Highlights include:
Talking to Lord Lucius, especially about Lady Caterina's lapdog.
Arnthor and Odette and their continuing hilarious rivalry. And the sausage jelly.
Trying to do a 'My Fair Lady' with Charlotte, and ending up with a new fashion for 'narrow panniers'.
Realising that masquerade balls at private residences are often an excuse for scandalous behaviour.

Anyway, a big thank you to everyone involved, it was really great fun in spite of my sickliness, and a good time seemed to be had by all.
