About 4+ weeks, actually. During which time I went on vacation, started my job, met GLaDOS and the Sniper, saw my favorite team, and got a new car.
Like I mentioned, visiting the cousin-owned cabin-in-the-woods in Tennessee has become sort of an annual tradition. This year was fairly uneventful outside of a mini-family gathering and the oddest sunburn I've ever had.
Immediately upon return began my weekend job working security at the Bristol Renaissance Faire. It involves long hours, hot days, tedium, and no sitting down on the job. I was most definitely not prepared for it the opening weekend, but over time I have slowly built up a resistance to the massive amounts of pain and settled for coming home exhausted and having five days to recover.
Friday the 15th led me to St. Charles, IL, to Anime Midwest, where I met two of the nicest and most wonderful people I have ever known:
Ellen McLain (GLaDOS of Portal, The Announcer of Team Fortress 2, and the Combine Overwatch of Half-Life 2),
and John Patrick Lowrie (The Sniper of Team Fortress 2).
It's times like these that I love meeting people whose work I love/respect/admire and discovering just how normal they are. It gives me great hope for my future to know that I've met them and could maybe be like them someday. Buuuut enough of my waxing philosophical.
Half an afternoon one Saturday was spent with friends from Oklahoma, with whom we braved many miles of traffic and swarms of people to see the Manchester United football team go up against the local Chicago Fire.
We were graced with beautiful weather and a fabulous view of both the game and the lake. ManUtd won 3-1, eeeeeeeeee.
And finally...meet the beast.
Our '97 Geo Prizm. My sister has taken to calling it Batmanuel, but I prefer The Beast. *shrug*
Thus ends the update on my so-called life. See you later, alligators.
