Talk To Me About: White Line Disease

Aug 12, 2005 00:00

Hey all,

My horse was just diagnosed with White Line Disease.

As of today he has three new regular shoes on and an Easyboot on one hind that will soon be replaced with a glue-on shoe. My farrier said that he could not physically nail a shoe on that foot because the wall there was paper-thin. He was going to do the glue-on today but he didn't have the right size so it's on order and should be put on by Wednesday.

In the meantime (and probably for the next month) I have to medicate his feet with this stuff called "White Lightening" which I mix with an equal part vinegar (smells like arse) and douse his hooves. He's also on a double dose of "Horseshoer's Secret" hoof supplements which he has been on (at the regular dose) for well over a year.

My horse is not lame, although he's just a tad gimpy in that one hind foot (as he always is whenever he loses a shoe.)

Anyway, I was just wondering if any of you have ever had to deal with this. I have serached the internet high and low and I can't seem to find any personal experiences.

Can anyone give me any more information?

Thanks!
