Empower?
What do you guys think about Nutrena Empower?
My vet suggested it to me as a top dressing for three of my kids.
Two of my mares get free fed hay and access to fresh water and a mineral lick 24/7 and are doing just fine (See Prize and Kahlua ) but the other two seem to be dropping weight on the same arrangement PLUS a 14% pellet! (See Relic..I don't have a recent pic of Shadow. Relic actually looks fine in the picture because this was the day they arrived at the new place before she started dropping weight.) They are on a regular worming schedule and never had this issue before. All of them were recently moved to a new home.
When the vet comes out in two weeks I am gonna have her check out their teeth. She also suggested I switch my worming program to keeping everyone on a daily wormer. It's what she does for her horses and she feels it's the way to go. As for a weight gain supplement I'd been doing the beet pulp thing but my vet says Empower is way better.
So I'll be feeding a Dumor 14% pellet with a top dressing of Empower and daily wormer (which many different people including my vet seem to agree that for some reason the wormer itself adds weight.)
Any thoughts? Feed suggestions? I am trying the Dumor out and can't say I'm impressed either way with it. I was thinking of switching to Purina.

My eleven year old Morgan mare Aquila's Sure Prize and her three year old son Skyland Creme De La Dreme AKA Prince.
My ten year old 3/4 Welsh 1/4 Halflinger pony Kahlua and Prize again.
