NAIS

On Saturday, I went with the folks to the Bull Bash, where they had 62 pens of bulls and 9 pens of stallions on main street.  And we also went to a meeting on the NAIS. Your going to ask what the NAIS is and what has it got to do with horse right. Thought so.

The NAIS stands for National Animal ID system, it started out for ID of cattle, so the government wants us to believe, but now it's up to 29 species, and it does include horses.

If this law passes, it's voluntary right now, but if it does pass, you will have to register your premise and obtain a federal ID. And all of your animals will have to have GPS chips or tags in their ears. And if you leave your premise, you will have 24 hrs to file the report, either on computer or via phone, and pay a fee.  This means if you take your horse on a trail ride, to the vet, to a horse show,  rodeo, to the breeders, basically anywhere, you will have to file a report.  And if you don't comply  there will be a hefty fine.

Even if your animal never leaves your premise you will have to register your premise and put a GPS bio chip in  the animal or tag them.

But the big factory farms will only have to obtain one ID for hundred or even thousands of animals raised together.

You can go to No NAIS   or to The Survival Blog for more information on the NAIS
