Jazz has been coming along in leaps and bounds.
I have changed her bit from the d-ring snaffle she came with to a Myler comfort snaffle New bit I have the one with the wide barrel, and normal d-ring rings.
The change in her has been remarkable. I have also taken away the flash part of her noseband, so she just has a plain cavesson noseband for looks alone. She works with a low headset, and rounds , working on the bit when asked with little resistance. Her walk-trot transitions are improving. Previously she would throw her head up into the air and rush, but of late she happily goes into a slow trot and then as I continue to ask her she goes into a nice working trot.

It also goes to show what a good shoe job does - she is starting to stride out and even flick out her toes.
I am starting to see signficant muscle tone along her neckline and we are having bum growth lol.

Don't get me wrong we still have our days, and she still has her moments, for example she still has hissy fits when im fastening her girth or the chest straps on her rug. No she isn't sore she is just being bitchy.

I have also been working on a lot of respect on the ground, especially around feed time.
I not allowed her near her feed bin at all whilst I pour her feed in and make sure its mixed thoroughly, in fact I have even chased her off. Once I am ready I invite her into to feed and then pet her forehead and leave her to eat in peace.
It is amazing to see the change in her attitude; this small step has allowed me to take a step up in the respect ladder.
I am also much stricter with her if she looks as if she is goign to nip when brushing or something, she gets a swift smack on the neck, but these moments are now becoming fewer and fewer.

I have to say that I hate this time of year in regards to rugging. Because I can only get down once a day, I try to rug so that she will be warm during the night but not hot during the day.
I had been leaving her with a cotton and then a synthetic combo (no fill) but she is sweating like nothing else. So I left her with just her cotton on and of course by the 3rd night she had destroyed the chest strap, the past few nights she ahs been naked but I threw on her synthetic combo tonite as it was going to be chilly and im seeing her first thing in the morning before uni tommorow.

Work is progressing on the parents property, the shipping containers are on the block - so now i have my temporary tack/feed shed there. The water and electricity are connected, and the plans for the stables, road etc are going in for approval in the next week or so. I am hoping to move Jazz within the next fortnight.

And just so its not text I give you some more pictures.

lookie at that muscle on her neck - pity i chopped off her nose.

Jazz having a tanty about going to the right - her stiff side.

a few moments later we have a nice walk - even though she is behind the vertical

look we have toe flicking.

I lunge her in a roller (borrowed from the lovely blitzen_ ) and running reins; I find that it isn't as restrictive as side reins.

And finally a picture of her saddled up.
