On Saturday I totally ditched a work pool party and tons of free beer to go trail riding all day! haha!
My original plan was to just ride in the morning, but my friend couldn't get away until 1, so I made a split second decision and skipped the party altogether. Horses and saddles loaded, we went to Brown County Horseman's Camp and hit the trails! Things got off to a shaky start ... We both brought our dogs. My dog, Joon, is well behaved and can go off leash. Jen's dog, Ty, has to stay on a leash at all times. I must admit, I don't think I'd go trail riding with a dog on a leash. Anyway, I think Ty was jealous of Joon getting to run around and he got distracted and stepped on pretty early on. But he was ok and then he payed very close attention the whole ride!
Our horses were good, though Will was a bit foot soar. I'm getting him boots, hopefully ordering them tonight. Go figure ... a horse with great feet and who is used to being barefoot and he's foot soar, even on dirt. Freak. But nothing boots can't fix. :)
We covered about 6-8 miles and stopped at the
Story Inn in the middle for drinks, eats, and good company ... including a couple of cute cowboys. They stole Jen's number from her dog's collar and promised to call her. It was all good fun. Jen tried her best to convince me to camp overnight with them, but I'm an engaged woman and my man is out of the country. Total inappropriate. I had to pass. She was disappointed, but I soothed her by promising to come out again soon and we'll camp next time.
We got back to the trailer aroud 8-8:30 p.m. and got back to the barn just before the sun totally disappeared. It was a great day!
