(no subject)
So ive only been lurking since I had to give Jinx up (the gorgeous OTTB I was leasing) which is wow over a year ago now.
Anyway I went out to see blitzen_'s new horse BJ last week and we got talking about Kiwi the OTTB she was leasing last year. Long story short, I am now leasing Kiwi.
She is 16.1 1/2 hh bay OTTB mare. She hasn't done anything really since she finished racing and the only education she had was when blitzen_ leased her last year. I will continue this education, however in saying that I don't know much about natural horsemanship, nor can I afford to buy the equipment required. So basically I will be working her on the flat, lunging, and finally in saddle. She has no balance whatsoever when you ask her to trot. So we are working on the walk right now.
She is also thin and has no topline whatsoever. However Kim (her owner) and I had a chat on Monday and we increased her feed and upped her hay amounts. I have also put on a light canvas rug - which some days I may have to race down to remove during the day if it gets to warm, but it will be perfect for her at night.
and I know what you all want to see...

after working in the lunge arena for awhile we went for a nice little stroll in the paddock to graze under the trees.
This is what I see when I walk up to Kiwi, in the afternoons, her hanging out in her yard with Nelson next to her.
